Stephen King has nothing but praise for Guillermo del Toro's Crimson Peak

03.16.2015

In yet another example of why it’s great to be a celebrity, author Stephen King and his son Joe Hill managed to get themselves a screening of Guillermo del Toro’s latest work, CRIMSON PEAK. The pair seemed quite taken with the film and took to Twitter to make us all jealous.

While I found Guillermo's last film, PACIFIC RIM, to be hugely entertaining (especially on the big screen) I wasn’t as impressed with it as I hoped I would be. Guillermo’s return to gothic horror on the other hand, has me very excited; probably more so than is socially acceptable. I should really stop writing these articles in public.

The production and cast seem top notch and if the beautiful atmosphere of dread prevalent throughout the trailer is any indication, we could very well be looking at one of the best films of the year. Fingers crossed.

Mia Wasikowska, Tom Hiddleston, Jessica Chastain, and Charlie Hunnam star in CRIMSON PEAK, which will see release on October 16, 2015.

The trailer lost me somewhere in the middle. Don't know if the movie sucks or the trailer. We'll see.

Looking forward to this film & a good horror film, after a few repeat viewings I grew to appreciate Pacific Rim, it's silly popcorn fun. If a horror icon like Stephen King says a movie is great then I pay attention, always appreciate King's honest opinions on projects he reads & sees

King will like anything I think. He seemed pleased by Under the Dome, which is terrible.

The TV series is definitely in "so bad it's good" territory, for me.
Stupid series but I enjoy its random plot twists at some level.

That's high praise from a true connoisseur. I thought this film would be a creepy thriller, sounds like is a lot more than that. A truly scary and gory period piece
