Sterling K. Brown wants to play John Stewart in Green Lantern Corps

Sterling K. Brown Green Lantern Corps John Stewart

Just this morning it was announced that David Goyer and Justin Rhodes had signed on to pen the script for the upcoming GREEN LANTERN CORPS for Warner Bros. It was also confirmed that the film will be centered around more than just one Green Lantern. In what is being described as a "LETHAL WEAPON in space," the upcoming DCEU flick will be an origin story and focus on both Hal Jordan and John Stewart. The story, which was conceived by David Goyer and Geoff Johns, will apparently deal with Stewart's relationship with both Jordan and the Corps. There have been several actors who have thrown their hat into the ring to play John Stewart, including Tyrese Gibson, but the latest is recent Emmy winner and Golden Globe nominee Sterling K. Brown (The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story).

Publicly campaigning for a role doesn't always work out, but I'd be more than happy to see Sterling K. Brown land the John Stewart role in GREEN LANTERN CORPS. Brown is already attached to a superhero film, as just last week he became the latest to join the almost embarrassingly great cast of Ryan Coogler's BLACK PANTHER. Brown will be playing N'Jobu in the upcoming Marvel flick, who is "a figure from T’Challa aka Black Panther’s past." At the moment, GREEN LANTERN CORPS is set for a July 24, 2020 release.

What say you? Would Sterling K. Brown make for a good John Stewart? If not, who would you like to see in the role?

News??

Seriously, these: ''Said Actor want role in huge blockbuster'' articles always make me cringe. Is this news?? Of course a less known actor wants a role in a huge movie. In other news I would like to play Kyle Rayner in the sequel, please post a news article about it this afternoon :p

Since I think they'll have Hal be the elder and John be the younger, I have an out of left field pick. I'd actually like to see Brandon T Jackson get a shot at something big screen. The guy has some chops for both comedy and serious. And he'd be a good younger guy to play off of in the Lethal Weapon vein.

Good choice, didn't really picture it till now! I am afraid Idris Elba might be a little old to start as the character. Jordan will be the older one and probably in his 40s, which means Stewart will have to be in his 20s or 30s. John Boyega if they are going younger wouldn't be bad either.

Not a bad choice, but Elba is my first choice in the roll of John Stewart.

Elba's name gets thrown around a lot with casting choices, but in this case, he would be awesome. Good pick.

Yeah, but unless Elba can get out of his Marvel contract. And then there's the statement of being fed up with being the character in Thor due to all of the cgi and make up, etc.

Don't know if he would want to take on another comic book character.

True, but he is a damn good choice. Chestnut has been in Hollywood for a couple of decades and hasn't been much of an audience draw. I just don't see it happening.

Sorry, Idris never complained about the makeup and CG, what he complained about was being tied to a contract to play a nothing character. The comments about makeup and CG was when his contract forced him off the set of the Mandela movie where he invested a lot of himself emotionally, to come and act on the Thor set for a day or two and he went from an important film to another one where there was just green screen and makeup and it made acting feel cheap. Also, your suggestion of Morris
