Steven Spielberg is so close to directing the Moses movie for Warner Brothers

01.25.2012

What might be next up on the plate for Steven Spielberg? Maybe some Moses-- old Testament style.

Warner Bros. has wanted Spielberg for this project for awhile. The film is loosely titled, GODS AND KINGS and is being envisioned as, a movie like a Braveheart-ish version of the Moses story. Him coming down the river, being adopted, leaving his home, forming an army, and getting the Ten Commandments. Also, there are no plans for it to be in 3D.

Rumor has it that the director could commit by the end of the month with production starting in March or April of 2013.

The film is being scripted by Stuart Hazeldine (PARADISE LOST) and Michael Green (GREEN LANTERN). The pair have never written together before. Are you guys ready for this epic? Who would you cast as Moses?

Extra Tidbit: We should have a contest to see who can recreate that photo of Heston as Moses the best.

Must've been a bitch to write the script. I heard that the source material is some kind of wacky, Hubbard-esk, sci-fi story.

anybody who would actually go to a theatre and pay for a ticket to a 'moses' movie directed by steven spielberg is a complete tool.

NO ROBOT APOCOLYPSE?

I'd much prefer to see the rumored return to sci-fi for Spielberg than another wide shot of a cgi army running down a landscape

If you look closely

Charlton Heston does look like an old Eric Bana in that picture.

Liam Neeson would be perfect, but saying he'd quite like to be a Muslim might not go down too well with some of the film's backers...

The first movie where Spielberg will cast himself in the lead...it's gonna be groundbreaking and the film will itself be a metaphor for what he did in the entertainment industry.
