Four score and seven...nevermind. The teaser for Steven Spielberg's LINCOLN is online and ready for your viewing pleasure. It's a pretty enticing teaser at that. We've seen Daniel Day-Lewis in costume, and now all we need to see is his interpretation on the 16th president. You don't get that, but do you need it? Everyone here knows he's going to nail it.

After the teaser plays, we are informed that there will be a live Google+ Hangout with Spielberg and Joseph Gordon-Levitt after the premiere of the full trailer on September 13th at 7PM EDT/ 4PM PDT.

"The story is a revealing drama that focuses on the 16th Presidents tumultuous final months in office. In a nation divided by war and the strong winds of change, Lincoln pursues a course of action designed to end the war, unite the country and abolish slavery. With the moral courage and fierce determination to succeed, his choices during this critical moment will change the fate of generations to come. The story is based in part on the book Team of Rivals: The Political Genius of Abraham Lincoln by Doris Kearns Goodwin."

LINCOLN stars Daniel Day-Lewis, Sally Field, David Strathairn, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, James Spader, Hal Holbrook and Tommy Lee Jones and is set to open in limited release on November 9th, then go wide on November 16th.

About Time...But...

Well, I've been excited for this flick for a couple of years now and while I'm glad to at last have a trailer, I'm wondering "What the hell?"

Please, can I have some more sir?

Really Spielberg? You gotta hop on the 'trailers for trailers" bandwagon?

Why not? It's about marketing. It's a great idea.

Yes it is about marketing and I doubt it was his idea but someone on the marketing team. Also its not a great idea; its quite stupid.

It's one of those feedback loops the internet has created. Before the web, if you loved watching movie trailers you kept it to yourself, because what's the chances you'll find yourself in a face-to-face situation where that's even a relevant topic? Now, being a fan of movie trailers is not only a thing you can talk about, but it was celebrated to the point of becoming its own content destination - so that the hype for a trailer could compete against hype for its own film. Thus here we are,

Now, being a fan of movie trailers is not only a thing you can talk about, but it was celebrated to the point of becoming its own content destination - so that the hype for a trailer could compete against hype for its own film. Thus here we are, watching trailers for trailers, with a paid 30 second trailer or ad for some place you can watch more trailers in front of it. Feedback loop.
