Strangers 2 director?

03.13.2009

The Strangers

Like a good stripper, THE STRANGERS was lean and tight and superficially exciting. But did it have enough meat for a second dance?

They're going for it anyway, following up the domestic terror with more from the masked trio of home invaders. Original writer-director Bryan Bertino has been working on a new story (which supposedly finds the enigmatic interlopers taunting the denizens of a trailer park), but according to Bloody Disgusting, there's a new director in the running -- French music vid/commercial director Laurent Briet.

Briet also worked on special effects for THE RING remake. THE STRANGERS sequel may begin filming this summer, but it's unknown who may return from the original.

Extra Tidbit: Briet has a site featuring previous work right here.

I'd imagine that film would be over in about 10 minutes, after the killers are shot to death by someone who isn't an incompetent city boy.

I liked the first one, really enjoyed it, and I'd like to see what they have in store for the sequel. As for who's returning, it doesn't matter, they hardly talked and wore masks. They could have anybody and it'd still work.

The Strangers sucked and this second one is going to. There was nothing scary about it.

It was obvious that The Strangers was influenced by contemporary french horror films so I guess its no surprise that a french director should be attached to the sequel.

Trailer Park

3 masked killers vs. a bunch of rednecks. Oh this should be good.

I loved the first one...

best American horror movie of last year. I know a lot of people who hated it (you know, it's not crap like Saw and stuff...poor people...). A sequel? Lyv trying to find those masked bastards? Because if they just put the three psychopaths AGAIN around a isolated house to terrorize a couple, or even a whole family, it's gonna suck, except if a G.E.N.I.U.S. is behind the camera...

Changing Director's Never A Good Sign, But...

At least they didn't hand the director's chair to Rob Zombie or Brett Ratner. Speaking of Zombie, let me stray off topic and say I was very disappointed in his remake of 'Halloween". He made every character white trash (seriously, must EVERY male character have long, greasy hair?), the acting was either over-the-top or just plain bad, and the sloppy use of shaky-cam at the film's climax is so bad I couldn't tell what was happening on screen. This franchise deserves to be in the hands of a

This franchise deserves to be in the hands of a skilled director, not a rock star.
I plan to see the 'Strangers' sequel and will keep an open mind about its director until I do.

I really didn't like The Strangers... but if a French dude is directing a horror movie then i'm always game.

I'm keen to this. I liked the first one and would like to see these bastards killed.
