Stunning images from Les Miserables as shot by photographer Annie Leibovitz

LES MISERABLES is just around the corner and after some stirring trailers for the Tom-Hooper directed film, we now have some stunning photographs and character portraits shot by renowned photographer Annie Leibovitz. The pictures were shot for Vogue magazine, where Leibovitz contributes frequently, and shot on the set of the film. The resounding feeling I continue to get for Les Miserables is that it will be every bit as visually stunning as it will be emotionally captivating.

Take a look:

LES MISERABLES, starring Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Helena Bonham-Carter, Sacha Baron-Cohen, and Eddie Redmayne opens on December 25, 2012.

Extra Tidbit: Leibovitz also did the Disney/Wizard of Oz photos a while back, which were equally cool. Hit up google to take a look if you've never seen 'em. Very cool stuff.

heh

That one of Hathaway is very unflattering but i'm betting that's what they were going for so the point is moot. As to Leibovitz its nice to see she's still out there taking pics. I had heard a couple of years ago that she was having money problems and was possibly having to sell the rights to all her photos. Not sure how it turned out now that i think of it, talented photographer.

Yes, Hathaway's picture isn't meant to be flattering; Fantine is dying of tuberculosis throughout her story, and becomes increasingly unhealthy and haggard.

Completely irrelevant to the movie, but Portman pulled off the short hair look [link] better than Hathaway.

Unreal ...

I think these pictures are incredible but not sure if I will see this in the theater. Definitely a rental.

Those are some great shots, as can be expected of Leibovitz...I really can't wait to see this, and am glad that nobody in the cast seems outright "wrong" (though I've always thought Mr Thernadier should be a fat guy, and Sacha Baron Cohen isn't)...I'm really glad they didn't go with Nick Jonas for Marius, and even happier they didn't go with Taylor Swift for Eponine. Ugh.
