The powerhouse of Summit Entertainment has acquired the rights to the untitled James McAvoy and Seth Rogen comedy.

McAvoy will play the guy who learns he has cancer. The film was formerly titled, "I'm With Cancer", which was based on the autobiographical script penned by Will Reiser who successfully beat the disease.

The hilarity that is cancer will be directed by Jonathan Levine (THE WACKNESS). Rogen, his writing/producer partner Evan Goldberg and Ben Karlin are producing, with Reiser serving as executive producer with Mandate president Nathan Kahane. Pretty ladies, Anna Kendrick and Bryce Dallas Howard will co-star. Filming will begin shooting this month in Vancouver.

Summit president of production Erik Feid said, "It's rare to find a script that has you laughing and crying in equal measure or a cast and director as perfectly suited to get the tone of this unique and moving film as perfectly right."

While some of you think that Rogen is overrated and not so funny, I look forward to this project. There's something rather interesting about a Rogen/McAvoy team-up. I'm also bound and determined to prove that Anna Kendrick isn't annoying.

I'm a huge fan of The Whackness. I also feel, slightly less enthusiastically, that both Rogen and McAvoy are good leading men. I have high hopes for this movie!

Err
So it's the same plot as Funny People, with Rogen playing the same role?

I'm a huge Rogen fan btw.
