Super powers and super villains take center stage in new Supergirl trailer

09.22.2015

The latest addition to the booming market of superheroes on television will be Supergirl herself; CBS's Supergirl stars Melissa Benoist as Kara Zor-El, biological cousin to Superman and one of the last surviving Kryptonians, who has been hiding her powers on Earth since she arrived years ago; however the time has finally come for her to be the hero she was always meant to be and Kara begins to embrace her superhuman abilities.

CBS has released a new trailer in anticipation of the series' October 26, 2015 debut which displays more than a few of Kara's abilities; check it out!

Supergirl's wall building vision can't be far behind. In addition to Melissa Benoist, the series includes Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant, Chyler Leigh as Alexandra “Alex” Danvers, Mehcad Brooks as James Olsen, and David Harewood as Hank Henshaw rounding out the main cast. Original Supergirl Helen Slater and Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman's Dean Cain will be guest-starring as Kara's foster parents. There's definitely an audience for Supergirl but from what I've seen so far, I'm not a part of it. Those of you who are still on the fence can check out our own Paul Shirey's review of the pilot right here!

Once again, Supergirl will premiere on October 26, 2015. Will you be tuning in?

That alien guy with the split mouth... Well, I guess they're not even trying to look original. The Red Tornado design for this series look stupid as well, but I guess I'll give the series a chance.

Looks painfully bad. Not impressed by this Melissa Benoist girl. Totally mis-cast and bland.

If I can give a shitty show like Gotham two episodes, I can do that for Supergirl. At least this looks like it could be a little light hearted and fun. Plus, she isn't gorgeous,, but she is cute...She has the girl next door appeal. It looks like Kara really is a geek with super powers, and not a super model type pretending to be to a geek.

Doesn't look like it's for me, but that's not to say there's no audience for it.
If anything really put me off this series it was the image of Red Tornado that showed up a few days ago - looked like really bad cosplay, and most of what I've seen so far from this series has that in common - looks like it was put together as cheaply as possible, certainly with regards to the costumes.

I'm gonna cut this some slack

based on Paul Shirey's review, and the fact that it's still early days. The "fights like a girl" comment doesn't make sense because Kara is a girl, not an MMA fighter. I suspect that was deliberate, and Kara will learn to fight, and control her powers, as the series progresses.

And Melissa Benoist is freakin' adorable. That last scene sold me on her; she deserves to lead a series.

"He knows, you told him?"
Excellent dialogue right there... surprised this didn't meet a demise like the Wonder Woman show.

Bombs Away!

Were they going for a shot on video cheese look, if so they nailed it. Wow, just wow that was hard to watch. And in this day and age of SJW outrage how does a female super hero even make it to screen in a mini skirt. And how does she prevent unlimited beaver shots while fighting crime, or is that one of her powers.

IDK, looks a bit too goody goody & cookie cutter for a comic book series. It's definitely on the wrong network that's for sure. This will for sure get cancelled by the end of the year.

He exists in this universe, she's his cousin. She talks about him in the first episode. I don't think the producers are allowed to use the character of Superman, so basically, "he's so occupied in saving people that he doesn't have time to visit her".

This looks terrible and it will bomb. The production value of Lois & Clark: The new adventures of Superman looked better, and that was 20+ years ago.

I'm not a fan....

I saw the pilot and thought the dialogue was bad, the characters were one-dimensional, the cuts were jolting (bordering on terrible), the effects were adequate at best, she fights like a girl (to coin a phrase), and the entire premise is kind of painful with it feeling like a bad Dawson's Creek episode.

That said, my 15 year-old daughter loved it and can't wait to see the series, so I guess it will work with the target audience.

Cue knee jerk "I'm a misogynist" comments. Truthfully this looks horrendous. I am going to give it a few episodes but my girlfriend said something telling to me. She said "I couldn't wait for a female superhero show, but I wanted a superhero show, not a show that beat me over the face with the fact that she was a girl. I wanted a girl who could throw down and have her character, and not her gender, be the focal point of the show. I mean does arrow or flash constantly remind us they are men,

She loves arrow and the flash, and she was shocked when I told her this was the same team that brought those two shows about. She also said she was annoyed they played her like a moronic teenie girly girly. I had to educate her on that one though that indeed her character is the teenage cousin of Superman lol.

Has it been confirmed that this will be in the same universe as Arrow, Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow? Or is DC taking a whole wait and see approach first?

Have you heard that Constantine will appear on Arrow this season? The Flash / Arrow producers consider the TV-verse to be a thing.
