Super short clip from Ang Lee’s Life of Pi adaptation has it’s eye on the tiger

Aside from a few images, we haven’t seen or heard much from director Ang Lee’s adaptation of Yann Martel’s prized novel, LIFE OF PI, but with the official site now launched and a clip being shown in front of PROMETHEUS in 3D, the film is slowly making its presence known.

The clip is all too brief, but a good enough tease to get you excited for the film.

Take a peek:

It really looks like Ang Lee has been able to add his unique vision to this film, which is not an easy adaptation as anyone who has read the book will tell you.  It’s got a distinct feel to it and it seems like Lee has made full use of the film being in 3D.  Given what Lee has done visually for films like CROUCHING TIGER, HIDDEN DRAGON and even the first HULK film, I have no doubt that LIFE OF PI will be a visually stunning film.

Starring newcomer Suraj Sharma as Pi Patel, and veteran actors Tobey Maguire, Gerard Depardieu, and Irrfan Khan, the film revolves around a shipwrecked Pi, who “finds himself alone in a lifeboat, his only companions a hyena, an orangutan, a wounded zebra, and Richard Parker, a 450-pound Bengal tiger. Soon the tiger has dispatched all but Pi, whose fear, knowledge, and cunning allow him to coexist with Richard Parker for 227 days while lost at sea. When they finally reach the coast of Mexico, Richard Parker flees to the jungle, never to be seen again. The Japanese authorities who interrogate Pi refuse to believe his story and press him to tell them “the truth.” After hours of coercion, Pi tells a second story, a story much less fantastical, much more conventional–but is it more true?”

LIFE OF PI opens on November 21, 2012 in 2D and 3D.
