Pre-production is already well underway for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 (or whatever they end up calling it), with a brief flurry of villain casting rumors flying around last week but nothing substantial taking shape just yet.

And on that front, I'm sorry to say that we're still in the dark. But with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN currently out on DVD and Blu-ray (pick it up here), director Marc Webb has taken some time out of his day to tweet a few answers to questions about the upcoming sequel.  Here's what he had to say, taking on the subjects of Mary Jane, web shooters, and the writing process.

Spidey swings back into cinemas on May 2nd, 2014.

During the publicity for an upcoming re-release of his Ultimate Cut for WATCHMEN, which is about close to as far as you can get from Stan Lee's webslinging creation, Snyder in turn took the time to dish about his love and respect for Superman.  Unfortunately, that's about all there is to be found in this paragraph of comment - Snyder really (really) digs on Superman, and somehow manages to actually avoid using the descriptor of "awesome" in his comments.  Which means we get some interesting substitutes, including "king-daddy," that I don't think are actually any better really...

"It's a more serious version of Superman.  It’s not like a heart attack. We took the mythology seriously. We take him as a character seriously. I believe the movie would appeal to anyone. I think that you’re going to see a Superman you’ve never seen before. We approached it as though no other films had been made. He’s the king-daddy. Honestly that’s why I wanted to do it. I’m interested in Superman because he’s the father of all superheroes. He’s this amazing ambassador for all superheroes. What was it about him that cracked the code that made pop culture embrace this other mythology? What we‘ve made as a film not only examines that but is also an amazing adventure story. It’s been an honor to work on. As a comic book fan, Superman is like the Rosetta Stone of all superheroes. I wanted to be sure the movie treated it respectfully."

MAN OF STEEL soars into cinemas June 14th, 2013.

Emma Stone and Amy Adams

Extra Tidbit: Hoping the next trailer for MAN OF STEEL drops this winter in front of THE HOBBIT: AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY.
