Superman to reboot

08.22.2008

It was more or less confirmed today that Warner Bros. will be completely overhauling its SUPERMAN franchise, ignoring SUPERMAN RETURNS, and starting again from scratch. Warner Bros. Pictures Group president Jeff Robinov said that:

"'Superman' didn't quite work as a film in the way that we wanted it to... It didn't position the character the way he needed to be positioned. Had 'Superman' worked in 2006, we would have had a movie for Christmas of this year or 2009... But now the plan is just to reintroduce Superman without regard to a Batman and Superman movie at all."

Yes, let's reintroduce him. So many people today know nothing of this hero. Often, you will see a picture of Superman flying through the air, or lifting a car, and someone will yell "who the hell is this clown?" That shit happens all the time. This guy definitely needs to be introduced to the world again.
Extra Tidbit: Brandon Routh, Kevin Spacey and Kate Bosworth all signed on to SUPERMAN RETURNS without having first read the script.

Let's do that...

I love they're re-doing the franchise...having that kid in the storyline made me angry and I'm a huge superman nerd...I hope Spacey will still play Luthor..by far the best portrayal since Rosenbaum on the tv series...we need to forget the last one and concentrate less on the Donner series...I wanna see that damn zoo in the Fortress!!!

I have to say as much as i love the way singer directs that movie was horrible. Superman has a son? Lois Lane married? I dont want a whole superman rebirth either. I dont want a begining. Just kick the movie off with him being superman because we already know his dam story.

In full disclosure, I am a Superman Returns fan. The main reason I can think of for them to do this is to open the films up to more possibilities. There wasn't a sequel seeded at the end of Returns and I can't see most of the villians (Darkseid, Brainiac, Metallo) working in Singer's universe.

That and they'll pull a Marvel and the last scene will be Kent in a bar talking to John Jones (see: J'onn J'onzz in human form) when Bale walks in... Ok, I just scared myself...

Why?

Further proof that studio heads are soulless. I think this is a damn shame. I really dug SR and always thought that Singer should get the sequel. This is dumb.

Horrible idea. I think Brandon Routh was a worthy successor to the late, great Christopher Reeve. It's a damn shame they're screwing up an epic.

Watch the animated series

Whomever is put in charge of this HAS to watch the 1990s animated series to see how to set stuff up. Lex shouldn't be a common criminal, but the wealthy and respected model. Also, and this may seem simplistic (didn't stop Singer from not doing it) they NEED to set up future villians early. How they handled Brainiac at the start of TAS is a prime example—you don't need him (or whoever else) for the first film, but you have to set up the sequel. Aliens randomly coming to Earth wouldn't

Other than being an actor that doesn't copy Christopher Reeve's acting, Superman needs bigger muscles in this reboot.

Thank God!

Returns was a boring mess. Bring on Mark Millar's version! Yipee! Maybe he can get Superman to get angry, or glare at someone, or something! Routh's Superman seemed more suited for braiding some poodle's hair while singing "Dancing Queen".

Poor Routh

If Routh doesn't come back, I think he'll be the biggest victim of this. He is in a very awkward position as a newcomer.

Revamp > Reboot

I like SR, I thought it was good, pretty solid and there's definitely a lot of improvement needed but it is not bad enough to warrant a reboot.

I would prefer a revamp, get a different director, change the cast that didn't work, change the style, etc, whatever. I just hate this trend hollywood has with remakes specially when they're not necessary like this. Even the kid could work with continuity but some people are just too lazy or stupid to even try. There's a lot of great potential for

In short REVAMP > reboot. I just hope they keep Brandon Routh.

I thought SR was good. And yeah, while the story was pretty much re-introducing Supes, making it something of a remake of the 1978 'Superman', I have to ask one question... Since WHEN is Hollywood bothered by remakes? I don't see any reason that they should say, "well, the film didn't position the character the way we wanted it to." Bullcrap! It brought Superman up to date, special-FX-wise, and introduced him to all the people who are lame enough to only watch movies made within the last

It brought Superman up to date, special-FX-wise, and introduced him to all the people who are lame enough to only watch movies made within the last decade (they're out there.) So, I don't see how they can say it didn't "position the character" for a sequel.

So, what it sounds like to me is that they want to re-invent Superman; and probably want to make him darker, because Batman is dark and successful, and they think that will work for Superman, which is idiotic, (which, of course, is synonymous with Hollywood in recent years.)

So, if that means sitting through ANOTHER re-introduction so they can "position the character" for a sequel -- which is usually where the characters are freed up to do some real action stuff, since the intros are out of the way -- then I'd say count me out. He's been re-introduced in SR, what we need now is the action-packed sequel! I don't see any problem with SR, (with the one exception being Lois Lane's kid) so if they're looking to change the series to something else, then they're looking to change it to something besides the Superman I expect and want to see.

Sounds real bad to me.

Fourth favorite movie of all time. And I will stand by that any day of the week. This sucks. The only way I will feel any better is if Brandon Routh stays on..he was great. They better not make some dork like Nic Cage play him for box office....come on

plissken2013, you do know The Incredible Hulk made MORE money than the Ang Lee movie right....well obviously not since you stated otherwise. that fact that it made more money, even if it was only a small amount more, proves it was a success, how many other films can be made, pretty much as a remake of a movie less than 5 years old, especially one as hyped as Ang Lee's movie, and still make the money it did. that said, nobody will say The Incredible Hulk was a smart film, it was a very good

Hulk is a pretty feral and primal animal to begin with so there was never a need to go deep into his character. Superman isnt exactly a complex man, but he is still a man, so like i said before, we would need a reason to feel for him and his safety. the visuals and cinematography was astounding in Returns, but the story was completely lacking, and people just didnt feel Luthor was a credible villain for the Man of Steel.

A NEW SUPERMAN

I actually enjoyed Superman Returns the first time, but it's a drag when it comes to the second time. Needless to say, I'd like to see a Superman overhaul. But keep Brandon Routh. He was born for the role. And when I say overhaul I don't mean 'reintroduction'. We don't need that and frankly, we don't care. People have Smallville for all that. Give us a new look for Superman for cryin' out loud! The white and black maybe? Or something that doesn't look corny? Give him a more rugged look. A guy

A guy dressed in a cape, blue spandex, and wears red thights / undies on the outside isn't something people wanna' see anymore. People wanna' see Superman go beserk. Go crazy. And actually punch a hole in someone's face! Doomsday, anyone? Get someone other than Lex Luthor. Give Superman new weaknesses....how many times will he keep falling for the f*ckin' Kryptonite? Sure, it's a drastic shift from the comics but lets face the damn facts...it's what the character needs. People like Batman 'cause people relate to Batman. Nobody relates to Superman anymore. He's just too damn perfect. The franchise seriously needs a reboot and as harsh as this sounds, Bryan Singer deserves all the shit that's being shoved in his f*ckin' face! Screw the X-Men franchise, will ya'? If he hadn't jumped ships we would've had a solid X-Men flick at least...not something from the retarted mind of Bret Ratner.

the reason superman movies dont work is because the character is boring. There is no weakness to him... Basically nobody can beat him unless you have a green rock then anyone can beat him. Its all boring... No amount of rebooting will make him anymore interesting.

The origin has been told in Smallville for the past 8 years, so I don't need a film-version of that.

Reboot means to me they'll redesign the whole thing and that won't be easy. Singer's Metropolis was well crafted, the suit was made credible, the quick introduction of Supes was efficient, the actors did fit...

They better don't rush this. But Casino Royale and Batman Begins have proven that it's possible...*fingers crossed*

i can tell you the gist of what most people want Indiana, more action (preferably against another super-powered villain) and no superboy(i still cant believe Singer went there). anyway, character-wise, Routh nailed him pretty well, comsidering there really isnt much to superman personality-wise. he is a dorky nice guy as Clark, he is a masculine super strong nice guy when he is Superman. any type of deep character insight would best be left for Clark's teen years, learning who he is, how to

I think people who liked SR need to read a Superman comic. Yeah the movie was pretty but it wasn't good and it wasn't accurate to characters at all. I love the idea of a reboot, this time maybe go with a different villian besides Luthor. Yeah he's awesome but he's not the only Superman villian.

Firstly, I enjoyed SUPERMAN RETURNS. I'd like to know what people want in a Superman movie because all I seem to read is just how awful SR was but never what they WANTED.

Secondly, I just checked boxofficemojo.com and SR made a little over $200 million domestically, $191 million overseas, giving it $391 million worldwide ($391,081,192 million if you want the exact numbers). It definitely made money, so yeah, just wanted to point that out.

Thirdly, if they're going to reboot Superman (again) would anyone else like to see something akin to KINGDOM COME?

Best idea!

How about portraying Supes as a Hancock-type character? Maybe he sneaks off to AA meetings? Does he have a few lady friends on the side? Would a modern Superman waste his time saving himself for one girl when he could have anyone he wants? What would the everyman do if he woke up tomorrow and was Superman? Rob banks? Stage fires to then put out to look good?

Not because we don't know who the guy is, Thoo. But more so, a re-intro to give us a more ass-kicking character I hope.

Lighten up, Francis.

Sorry if you feel like you are robbed of Routh and Singer becoming the Scorsese and Deniro for a new generation, but if everyone's first reaction was the movie was great WB would have a sequel in the works already.

And quit whinning about Singer not getting to make the great movie he wanted to do for the sequel. You can't put out something mediocre just to lead into your really great next movie

five is enough

SO bored of superman. Indestructible alien dude who's only susceptible to a green rock (that the villain just happens to have). Do something else PLEASE!
Watched Justice League: New Frontier recently , and i thought that was a cool (animated) movie. Action-packed and intelligent enough.
Another reason why I think a Green Lantern movie will make miuch more sense than having another (awful) superman movie.

I'm with emjoi...

I don't see why they need to redo the whole damned thing again. I'm sick of watching Clark grow up and run through a fucking cornfield. Why must I see all of that again?!? Just forget the others, assume the rest of us know who Superman is already, and get something INTERESTIGN going on. For the love of god can we get a supervilain besides that blond haired douche-bag in Superman IV? Please do not make Lex the only antagonist again. Or if you do, change him to the Lex from the newer comics and

And CarolitaCool...Bite me, dude. I hated Superman Returns from the beginning, so suck it. If you like, I'll be happy to show you internet posts I made from two years ago panning the piece of garbage. It was idiotic and boring to boot. Singer isn't getting to make the action sequel he promised because HE dropped the ball on the first one. He should have thought of that before he gave us a pace-less rehash of something Richard Donner did years ago, but better. And Routh was great, I'll admit. He had the Christopher Reeve mannerisms down to a T. Too bad Singer dressed him up in kids underoos instead of a Superman costume. He is probably the only part of the film I would like to see return. Bottom line: if you've got a hard on for Singer's half-assed attempt at glory, good for you. But don't try to generalize everyone else into a fad group just because you don't like their opinions. In fact, here ya go: I liked AVP:R, Punisher, and Ghost Rider. How's that for going against the popular opinion?

Your just angry cuz the movie sucked.

You bunch of stupid sheep. Why don't you stick to your word and stop lying just to look cool.. because of you dorks, Singer isn't gonna make the ACTION sequel he was

let think back...

people keep talking about "great it will be an origin movie", but remember in the Donner film we saw teenage Clark walk into the arctic, have some wacked out visions of Jor-el, and the next thing you know he is older with the costume and off to Metropolis.

Look, I dug what Singer did with the first 2 x-men movies, but watching Superman Returns was like telling someone at the beginning of a line the plot of the first movie and then hearing the the way the story has evolved by the time it

Singer and WB dropped the ball on that movie from the script to the cast. Superman has been around for a long, long time and over the years many creative people have had different takes on the character. Why we have to have some blind devotion to Routh trying to act like Chris Reeves is beyond me.

Good for you WB. Now get it right.

But why?
It means spending the first hour or so doing the Origins story once again.
Just start the movie in a world that contains Superman, and then tell a story. You don't to refer to things in earlier movies? That's fine. But you don't need to rewind to the start.

Is it ironic that of the 3 Bryan Singer movies I've seen, I have not enjoyed a single one? I've seen X1, X2, and Superman Returns. I didn't like any of them. They all had the same problem: They were too reserved and gentle. I still don't accept Hugh Jackman as Wolverine. Jackman is just too comical. I feel like laughing at how lame his acting is whenever he tries to portray Wolverine. But back to Singer; his handling of editing and cinematography seem to be very amateurish, and uncreative. The

I guess my point is, I'm glad they're getting rid of Singer.

Fine....

...just don't spend the first half of the fucking movie showing his rocketship origin and youth in Smallville. No one on the planet needs that. Make him kicking ass as an adult right out of the gate.

And bring on Bizarro (non-CGI)!!!!!

I always thought superman returns would be like batman begins, its main purpose is to re-establish the characters and settings after the bad movies and years of absence. Than singer would like make man of steel like the dark knight, really up the action/villians/etc. Now it looks like that will never happen, unfortunatly.

While a reboot has a chance of being good, I'd feel better about this if they kept the same cast. I'll be happy to forget to superkid plot.

SR wasn't THAT bad

I liked SR, though I will agree that it did have it's flaws. Supes having a son didn't work. His SUIT didn't work either. Man that was the biggest eyesore that I've ever seen. It was horrible looking. It was great that Singer went with Donnor's vision of Superman and continued the story that Donnor had started. Spacey/Routh was perfect. Bosworth was OK but no Margott Kidder. Another problem that I had with the film was that Singer said that he (like Donnor) felt it was necessary to establish

Well if Singer was continuing from Donnor's work, he didn't need to establish the characters all over again. How do I feel about a reboot? I want to see Superman on the big screen again, but not at the expense of the movie makers changing the formula of the Superman universe in doing so.

This is gonna be the shittiest movie since The Crow - Wicked Prayer. WB should go out of business for "recreating" the franchise. Whatever they do, Christopher Reeve will ALWAYS be Superman.

It doesn't necessarily need to be Totally redo the whole thing. Supposing that Routh returns as Superman, would he still need to reintroduce the same character that he already played? Lex Luthor character would still work but at least they better come up with a better scheme for him to play than in "Superman Returns".

throwing this out there...

Maybe..we could at the begining of the movie see something superman wouldn't do..break someones neck or somthing.

And come to find out it's the cyborg?

I think doomsday should be saved....to BA of a character to just throw out there.

Parasite would be cool tho.

I'm not sure how I feel about this. I wasn't crazy about SUPERMAN RETURNS but I don't really think it was bad enough to completely reboot the franchise. They should at least keep Routh and maybe Spacey. They really painted themselves into a corner with the whole Super Son element. It's not like they can really ignore it in a sequel but it should definitely not be the focus of the story. Oh well, we'll see. Just give Singer another shot. It seems like he knows what he wants to do, just

superman returns was loved by females, why.......it was a slow drama about a man searching for himself and his child. that is not the superman i want! ditch the boy, keep routh and spacey and make this thing what it should be...a special effects marvel with great action, cool vilian, and an overall better/deeper storyline

Superman Returns Sucked

Start over. With a new cast - EVERYTHING! Lois was a bitch, Superman was a stalker, the subplot of Kal El having a kid was god-awful and Spacey wasn't scary enough. They should've gotten Billy Zane for that role.

while i wouldnt mind a reboot, i dont really like the idea of a TOTAL reboot, we dont need an origin story, it is pretty simple, planet is going to blow up, father saves child, child crashes on earth, child grows into superman. i would kinda redo Returns, have the Man of Steel an already established hero, dump Bosworth, dump the stupid ass superboy thing, and throw in some super powered baddies. it doesnt have to be a mindless Micheal Bay type film to have a lot of action.

Reboot unecessary

Look Singer fucked that movie up. He had a chance to do some wild Matrix, Daywatch, next world shit and he had superman running around like a bitch trying to figure out who his son is. Superlight on the action. THE QUEST FOR PEACE had more throwdowns that that thing.

The only good thing to come out of that shit was Brandon Routh.

Dump Singer, keep Routh (who I don't believe is gay BTW mandingo) and inject some action into that bitch. If all else fails, take notes from the animated

supes reboot

I would kind of want to see the new direction they might take the character to, but then I would also like to see the universe Singer created expand and explore more possibilities, I knew this would come back to Singer and haunt him, he should of just stuck to the X-MEN universe and continued his X-saga.

This is somewhat disrespectful. While I dind´t enjoy Superman Returns a lot of people found the movie a nice piece of work. Singer did an OK job, no need to scrap that. Starting from scratch is sucha bad idea, Supes is iconic, why the "reintroducing" bullshit? Just pump up some more action and throw a super villan in the mix and you´re set. Bizarro perhaps?

superman doesn't need a reboot. you need to take the world singer set up and do a proper action-filled superman movie in it. recast bosworth, but let routh stay. he was fine. that movie had too much right about it to throw it all away and start from scratch again.

at the very least, could we have john williams's theme again? it's iconic.

I don't like it...

...not because they're scrapping Singer's franchise (which I long ago figured might happen), but as Mr. Thoo has pointed out with such precise sarcasm, the character is iconic. Maybe they shoulda forgot about a movie until "Smallville" finished its run (and then Singer would've been free to do his "X-3" movie, and a whole bunch of other possibilities open up).

Introducing the character is pretty much unnecessary, and I thought the WORLD of Singer's Supes was worthy of making a sequel to,

OK here is how it goes. I liked Returns, it was a good movie, but introducing Superboy was a poor move because it totally destroyed the feeling of everything.

I would like to have Routh and Spacey back as Superman and Lex respectfully. I mean they can bring back Lex as a character. He doesn't have to be the villain. Or at least the main villain. Having Metallo, Brainiac, Doomsday, Darkseid, Bizzaro, those would be good villains to have.

I don't see why everyone is upset. I am

A lot of fans did not like what Singer did with Superman Returns. Weak villain, Christ allegory, and Superchild. They just weren't received well by the majority. I loved the original movies too, but updating the story isn't a bad thing.

To everyone who says Superman is outdated and useless, tons of people still relate to Superman and enjoy him. He is considered one of the greatest still and people love the guy. He is part of America.

Fuck! That's stupid! There WERE a LOT of people who DID like the movie, you know. At least try and get Brandon Routh back - we were lucky to have someone who didn't just look and sound like the late (and, really, the ONLY Superman) Christopher Reeve, but carried the same spirit, and really delivered it. If they're going to reboot the series without him, well...I'll be pretty pissed.

You see, that's a good thing to a certain point. Superman is the type of hero that you can actually have drama woven into his story and make it entertaining.

Singer did the franchise justice and I will stick to my guns on that. I won't boycott any future incarnation of Superman, but this news just really irks me more than usual.

Really not that hard..

Here's how I think the next Superman would rock:

It opens with Supes fighting a super-powered baddie named Metallo who's robbing a bank or something. Tie Metallo's origins to Lex Luthor if necessary.

Cut to Luthor being possessed by an alien entity called Brainiac (similar to Luthor putting on the helmet in the "Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow?" story). With Luthor's help, Brainiac aims to bring Doomsday to Earth, setting up their epic fight at the end of this film for the next

No more origins or introductions (than what is necessary for the new villains). Everyone knows these characters. No more limp love-story bullshit. No more super-powered tykes.

Lots of cameos and fan-bait. This is what gets people into theaters and coming back for more installments.

something tells me that might just be a better idea than some of the alternatives...

Mixed!

I have mixed feelings about this reboot!
I thought that Superman Returns was a mediocre film but I did like Routh as Superman and Spacey as Luthor. Even the dude that played Jimmy Olson was OK in the role.

Please don't give us another origin story which has Luthor as the villain again! That would just be too boring! Old white bald dudes with no powers are not what the story needs!!

Maybe Nic Cage can take off his toupee and play Luthor in this new movie?

SR wasn't as bad everyone thinks, but it definately was not what should have been made considering the 18 year wait. As much as people criticize PJ for being "self-indulgent" on KK I think Singer was twice as self-indulgent. His use of a CG Superman was unforgivable to me. Even if Reeve had a black line around, I still knew it was him and that he took the time to make me believe he could fly. I don't want to see any of the actors replaced, except for Bosworth, but they definately need to scrap

lame.

i was really looking forward to seeing what bryan singer could come up with. i thought he did a much better job than what he did with the x-men.

unless they can pull a DARK KNIGHT, i for one will be boycotting this reboot.

I agree. I'm sick of seeing Superman's origins and I'm SICK of Lex Luthor as the villain.

Give us something new for crying out loud.

While I truly enjoyed Superman Returns I dont think its a bad idea to do a "reboot". The ending kind of did leave it in a dead end I thought, thanks to revealing the kid was Superman's(spoiler). How can you move on from there?

But of course if the Warner Bros has half a brain they will know to have DC Comics involved and try to keep themselves out of the way, otherwise the black clad/cant fly Superman they wanted to make in the 90s will be filmed.

And for those of you cursing DC Comics

And for those of you cursing DC Comics for not getting their shit together ala Marvel when it comes to movie making, please remember DC is owned by Warner Bros, so therefore they control all the characters movie fates unless they eventually pass on gettng it done(like they have with Shazam). They dont have the same level of independence as a Marvel, which leads to longer delays and bullshit when getting a movie done. Which of course makes it even more shocking that Batman Begins and Dark Knight were so goddamn brilliant. But who knows, maybe because of that success, they'll learn to let to take a step back and let the creative types do what they do..... Naahh that wont happen. The studio heads probably already forgot about Christopher Nolan and they they are the reason TDK did gangbuster biz.

Good Superman villains to use? Go big. One word. Darkseid.

Maybe now they can go ahead with producer Joel's idea of giant spiders? Wait, that was already done in Wild Wild West...

You cant reboot Superman it'd be like reintroducing Lincoln or apple pie; its a part of American nostalgia. If anything they could keep Superman in the Depression era and model it after a Saturday serial; similar to RAIDER's original intentions. But the popularity of this character will probably end when us Gen-X'ers bite the dust and just live on as nostalgia with our kids.

Id always hoped for RETURNS to be revenge film. Luthor funding terrorist acts, destroying Metropolis, killing Lois

Who cares...who's the chick in the pic? :p

I didn't think Superman Returns was terrible, but if a reboot is what they're thinking, then fine. Chances are they wont get the same cast (as was the case with Hulk and Punisher reboots)

This could work

Bring back Kevin Smith from his failed draft...

...bring back Brandon Routh

Rewrite Lex Luthor to be an evil tony stark.

Don't write it like Batman, but still try to make it less goofy. 'cause let's be honest...Superman is pretty f[ck!n& goofy. Flyin' around doing anything he wants in red and blue spandex? In the first half of the 20th century that's a hero, in the first half of the 21st century that's a metrosexual wet dream.

For Gods sake, what is wrong with these people? I'll be honest, I wasn't thrilled with Superman Returns (I didn't hate it, but it just didn't really do anything for me), but this is the THIRD franchise, I can think of that has already been rebooted and now is getting ANOTHER reboot within a two to three years time-span. It's getting to the point where we're going to have remakes of remakes.

Bring on Doomsday already

I will only see it if its not an origin story and Luthor is not the villain.

They should have done the death of Superman in 2006 then followed by Supermans revenge this year.

Possibly giving us that lightning blue suit as well.

Phew, finally. Superman Returns was just mediocre and Brandon Routh didn't convince me as Superman at all. Hopefully, we'll get a supervillain this time instead of just Lex Luthor...

I didn't like Returns, and if they can do something better than that, I am game.

Please, please, please, please just bring Brandon Routh back. Sadly, I don't see it happening at all. Screw you D.C. comics, did you not notice The Incredible made only $2 million than the "mistake" Hulk film of 2003?!!!! I HATE reboots, especially when it's only been 2 freakin' years!!! This news really pissed me off, and I didn't even love Superman Returns. But I mean it's Bryan Singer, don't you think he knows what to bring us? Tell him to change it up a bit and I'm sure he will, don't treat

This is going to be a disaster.

IMO, Superman should've been rebooted back in 2006.

Rebooting is essentially why...

... "Superman Returns" sucked.

It was Bryan Singer's slavish love and devotion to Richard Donner's excellent original that essential brought the film down. That and a complete misapprehension of what made Donner's Superman so awesome in the first place.

But the real problems remain with the hero himself. He's a product of the great depression when people needed an impervious hero to to give them hope. But his imperviousness is precisely what makes him so antiquated. Who's to stop him?

But his imperviousness is precisely what makes him so antiquated. Who's to stop him? This begets absurd storylines where Nuclear Man, Brainiac and Richard Pryor try to bring down the man of steel. Barring that, Lex Luthor can always be relied upon to conjure up some scheme so horrifying that it defies any sense of humanity. A scheme so terrifying that only a maniacal sociopath could dream it up. And that horrible, horrible scheme will be... a real estate scam.

Seriously, as much as I have love for the original Superman, it's not without it's flaws. Then we were under the shroud of nuclear annihilation... something only a Superman could protect us from and still have trouble fighting. But to use the exact same dialogue and plot from Donner's movie was what did Singer's version in. That and a Superman who has a kid and who's a fucking peeping tom.

I just don't see Superman having relevance in this day and age. Who's he going to fight? The Taliban?

I have a bad feeling about this... Why fuck up a good thing? I thought the latest installment was wonderful. I loved the cast. And Brandon Routh was amazing. If he doesn't come back don't expect me in a theatre.

About time

Although I greatly admired Bryan Singer's attempt to keep the old Superman alive, I've thought for quite some time that Supes needed a. . . how should I put this? Make-over? That is to say, he needs a new twist to him, to be shown to the world in a new way, much like how Batman Begins gave us a Batman we'd never seen before.

Oh boy....

Maybe they can try to get away from the whole "Lex Luthor needs more land" plot. It's been done now. Twice. It may be nice for Supes to have an enemy that isn't a middle aged bald white guy also.
