Surprise, Michael Chiklis’ Gotham character looks like Michael Chiklis

Just last month it was announced that Michael Chiklis (The Shield, American Horror Story: Freak Show) would be joining Gotham's second season as Captain Nathaniel Barnes, a “law and order zealot who lands on the GCPD like a tornado, ripping out the dead wood of Gotham’s police force.” Now Entertainment Weekly has landed a first look at Chiklis' new character and he looks just like every other cop Michael Chiklis has portrayed, but with one important difference…this time, he's got on a snazzy tie and vest.

Take a look at Michael Chiklis' rather stern looking Captain Nathaniel Barnes below!

Michael Chiklis will be a series regular on Gotham's second season and will make his debut in the fourth episode which is titled "Strike Force." I tried to give Gotham a chance during its first season but I just couldn't get into it; I doubt that Chiklis' involvement will draw me back to the series but according to an interview star Ben McKenzie (James Gordon) gave to EW, the show will be addressing some of the mistakes made during its first season and bringing the series a bit closer to what fans want.

I think we made a mistake relatively early on in trying to introduce a villain and take care of that villain in one episode: catch them, send them to Arkham, do whatever. That was just a mistake. We should’ve never done it. The audience really wants to understand who these people are and live with them, sit with them and enjoy them. Whether they’re evil or good, they are entertaining. So that’s what we’re doing in season 2. [It’s] really kick ass. I think it’s exactly what the fans want to see.

Gotham's second season will premiere on September 21, 2015. Will you be watching?
