T4 lacks Cameron
Sep. 29, 2008
On several occasions McG has spoken of James Cameron giving his blessing to his making of TERMINATOR: SALVATION. On several occasions, it seems, McG has been talking garbage. In an interview with E Online, Cameron said the following:
Q. Are you involved at all in the Christian Bale production of Terminator 4?
It could be a big steaming pile or it could be brilliant. Sam Worthington is in the Avatar and the new Terminator and he likes the script, but I never saw it. There was no blessing involved.
To be fair either of these guys could be mistaken and there's no way for us to tell which one it is. As much as you guys might hate on me for it, I kinda like McG and everything I've seen from SALVATION so far, I've thought has looked dynamite. The tone of that first trailer was perfect. Bale is the man. I'm still down with this. Roll on.

What's the point of simply posting the exacting thing the whole world does?"
Because if you're just saying it for the sake of being controversial then it's not your opinion. Obviously.

Can't say I blame him. To create something as bad-ass as the Terminator franchise and then have it bastardised by a bunch of hacks has gotta sting.
T1 and T2 just have this fuckin' gutsy, raw feel to them. T3 just felt way too... I dunno, clean. I mean the scene with the crane was pretty sweet, but all in all it lacked a lot of the qualities that the first two had in spades... In particular, atmosphere.
Anyway, I remain hopeful for T4, but things aren't looking too promising just yet.

But T2 lacking because it shouldn't be about "machines vs. machines?" Or that it has grown long in the tooth but T3 hasn't? SERIOUSLY?? Strip away the Sci-Fi and T2 still has emotion and drama and has something real to say about people, where T1 was a simple-and-rushed love story with a little "technology is bad" vibe. It only hinted at what T2 explored to the core. Miles Dyson was a fantastic character played amazingly. Linda Hamilton was really good in T2, where basically anyone could have played her in T1. T2 has the courage to not even have the main antagonist for nearly an hour (turning Sarah into one temporarily), spending the time to be a good drama with the impending doom vibe that people with some patience can really appreciate. T1 is scarier and a better thriller. T2 is a better MOVIE. It has a following outside of the JoBlo Sci-Fi demo, and that's because it has more to offer.
As for T3, THAT's the movie that copied what came before and offered nothing superior in the process (not to mention spitting in the face of everything that T1 and T2 are about by saying that everyone is a slave to fate (really weird fate that "fixes" itself), thereby making everyone puppets and not people.) And along with all that, comes really REALLY cheesy attempts at humor that made me, and most of the audience I originally saw it with, cringe. I HEARD them cringe, that's how much they cringed. SO BAD. Yes, T3 has a good ending. Yes, it's a "fun" movie. But the first two combined (especially T2) offer so much more than just "fun".
And I think we can ALL agree who the greatest bad guy was.
I'm not going to jump on the James Camerson is God band wagon. His work has been great, his work has been mediocre. T3 could have been great even without Cameron, but the guy they gave it too didn't understand what the story was about, didn't bother creating the tension-filled atmosphere of the first two, and he has a really shallow, immature, obvious sense of humor. Either that, or he was just pandering.
If they lose the lame humor of T3 and actually bring in some of the amazing morphing effects of T2 (even by today's standards) that T3 failed to bring back, I'll be happy. It'll never be what it was without Linda Hamilton though, she was the heart of everything.

I liked T2 when it came out initially, but its grown long in the tooth. You can clearly see that it was a bigger budget remake of the first Terminator, only with John Connor now being hunted. Cameron wanted to monkey around in that universe one more time before giving up working on the franchise.
T4 won't be bad, with or

T4 won't be bad, with or without Cameron's 'blessing'. And frankly, since Cameron hasn't directed a sci-fi movie since the 90's, I'm more worried about his Avatar project than I am about T4.

And while "X-Men 3" was certainly not better than "X-Men 2" it was still an exciting action movie with thematic relevance and one of the best summer films of 2006. Ratner gets a lot of crap for the things that were wrong with that movie when it was really the studio's fault for trying to rush the picture through to beat "Superman Returns" to the screen (which turned out to be unnecessary since "Superman Returns" was such an abomination).
Forgive me for playing devil's advocate but it's pointless to repeat what everyone else is already saying.
Really though, why does it bother you so much? If you have faith in your opinion, what I say shouldn't matter one bit. If you think I'm baiting, don't take the bait.
