Take a look at Tim Burton's Frankenweenie

Just so you know, I giggled like a little girl when I wrote that.

What we have here is a brand new image from Tim Burton's FRANKENEWENIE, and it looks just like you'd expect one of his stop-motion animated films to look like.

This is of course based on Burton's short film of the same name. The original FRANKENWEENIE was shelved soon after creation by Disney for being too scary for kids. It wasn't till Burton hit it big (years after being fired from Disney) that it got a home video release.

FRANKENWEENIE has been expanded to a feature film, perhaps quite needlessly. But the short film was great and there's a lot of poential here, so let's hope Burton doesn't ruin it like everything else he's touched in the last decade or so.

...

Tim Burton is finally doing it to himself! He's going to re-imagine (screw up) one of his own films, can't wait. I like how much he hasn't grown as a a [link] he seems to be regressing.

Well, from what I understand, Tim Burton wanted to make a stop motion Frankenweenie movie originally but instead had to do live action. This movie would actually "imagine" the story the way he intended. Still, this is not the first time a short film was rereleased as a feature, and at least he has an opportunity to make his own movie the way he would have done it before, with the advantage of more experience and resources.

Can I politely disagree with you?

I don't think expanding the live-action short into a Black & White stop-motion feature is needless. I think it's fantastic.
And as far as the films he's ruined in the past decade I don't think I'm alone in saying that Big Fish, Corpse Bride and Sweeney Todd were excellent. But maybe I am. And I understand that film is subjective... but what's a strikeback without an opinion?
Unless you're referring to the past decade as in the one we're in now, in which case I would agree with you

the short film is NOT live action... it looks just like this... it is also stop motion.

Um, the short is listed as live-action on IMDb. It starred Shelley Duvall and Daniel Stern.
