Take That's Gary Barlow could appear in Star Wars: The Last Jedi

03.27.2017

I'd never heard the music of the 90s British boy band Take That until just moments ago, and while I might not be running to my iTunes account to purchase their latest album, I need to at least give them credit for producing an atmospheric and sweeping sound with their single "Giants". While the auto-tuned, feel good track won't be making its way to my personal library, there is a bit of interesting Star Wars-related news concerning Take That's singer Gary Barlow floating around the interwebs, today.

During an interview with UK morning TV talk show "Lorraine" the dreamy performer revealed that he had shot a scene for the upcoming chapter of the STAR WARS saga. Barlow enthusiastically told the program, "I'm not a stormtrooper, but I am in it." That being said, Barlow is aware that not all of the footage shot for a film makes it to the final cut. He then followed up his statement by adding this, "Now that I've said that, I'll probably be out. I think the Star Wars people are so strict about what information [is divulged]. So me saying that, I've probably just done myself out of the role."

Ah, c'mon Gary, that doesn't sound like the confidence one would need to serve the Empire or join the rebel alliance. In other STAR WARS cameo news, several UK newspapers are claiming that Princes William and Harry have filmed a scene as stormtroopers while visiting Pinewood Studios. Oh, and you can count on ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY director Gareth Edwards stepping onto the set for a cameo role as well.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI is being directed by Rian Johnson and stars actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Adam Driver, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Lupita Nyong’o, Domhnall Gleeson, Anthony Daniels, Gwendoline Christie and Andy Serkis.

STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI will land in theaters on December 15, 2017.

Extra Tidbit: I have never, nor will I ever, own an album created by a boy band. That particular style of music simply isn't my jam.
