Please, nobody kill me, but I didn't think the first Evil Dead was all that great. The second one, sure. Army of Darkness, fuck yeah. But I feel like this movie could actually be good. At the same time, it could be a steaming pile. So I'm holding off judgment.

That road is super creepy looking.

For some reason (probably the involvement of Sam, Bruce and Rob), I've got a really good feeling about this one.
I thought the logo was great, calling to mind the grime and savagery of the original. This image is also promising. I love the way the trees reach into the path. I think this is one to keep an eye on!

I just finished reading a three-month-old draft of the script for this remake and now I'm actually quite excited for it. It's extremely gory, gruesome, and disgusting, so it should make for a pretty good remake.

A lot of this is going to depend on how well the makeup and creature designs go (a lot like with Cabin in the Woods), particularly near the end when shit goes really crazy.

It seems like it's going more for the tone of the first one and actually aiming to be a straight horror

It seems like it's going more for the tone of the first one and actually aiming to be a straight horror film. Perhaps if they do a sequel, they will do as Raimi did and add in more humor. Then again, with as over-the-top as some of the stuff in the script got (limbs being torn off, people being shot with a nailgun), it could well turn into some dark comedy anyway.

My one concern though is that this draft was before the Diablo Cody revisions, and seeing as how she did the awful Jennifer's Body, I'm hoping she's not going to end up ruining this. We'll just have to wait and see.
