Taron Egerton talks upping the ante for Kingsman 2 & hints teaser release

KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE was an unexpected surprise and box office hit, but the sequel really has to hit it home to prove it wasn’t a fluke. It has the potential to sink the series' ship, but also to sail it off to new horizons. In order to accomplish the later it has to up the ante in every way possible, something star Taron Egerton thinks it’s done.

In an interview with Cinema Blend the young actor talks about how director Matthew Vaughn went, in my own humble words, balls-out to make the sequel bigger and better:

[Matthew Vaughn] goes even further with it. It's kind of absolutely crazy. Julianne Moore is the villain, and she's genuinely terrifying. She's really, really, really great. So it's bigger, badder, more guns, you know? All that stuff. It's fun.

Though I’m as titillated by these words as the next chap, all I wanna know is when will be able to see some footage for this “crazy” sequel. Egerton addresses that as well, but like the rest of us only has a faint idea:

“I can't imagine it would be very deep into next year, I think maybe there would be a teaser within the first couple of months of next year. We're now an October release. It depends, I really don't know. Matthew Vaughn works in mysterious ways, but you won't be disappointed, it's going to be awesome.”

We’ve heard a lot about the craziness of this film with some of the stars, like Colin Firth, calling it "utterly its own thing". It’s just a shame we have to wait so much longer now to see it because I need a new dose of Firth-obliterating-everyone-with-a-gun awesomeness. If that means making sure they have enough time to get whatever scene they did to best the church scene in the first KINGSMAN just right, I’ll allow it.

KINGSMAN: THE GOLDEN CIRCLE arrives October 6 with Taron Egerton, Julianne Moore, Channing Tatum, Jeff Bridges, Halle Berry, Mark Strong, Colin Firth and more.
