Taron Egerton whips out his bow in first Robin Hood trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

The story of Robin Hood is one of the most iconic and often-told in all of English lore, and the character’s heroics have been portrayed on the screen time and time again. The latest cinematic version of the character is played by Taron Egerton (KINGSMAN) and, as evidenced in the movie’s first trailer, he will do plenty of slo-mo and fast-paced bow shooting and he steals from the rich and gives to the poor.

Robin of Loxley (Taron Egerton) a war-hardened Crusader and his Moorish commander (Jamie Foxx) mount an audacious revolt against the corrupt English crown in a thrilling action-adventure packed with gritty battlefield exploits, mind-blowing fight choreography, and a timeless romance.

The film’s cast is rounded out by Foxx, Ben Mendelsohn, Eve Hewson, Tim Minchin, and Jamie Dornan, with directing duties given to Otto Bathurst.

The movie has that clear modern style to it to make the Hood tale see fresh and vibrant. At the very least it looks better than last year's KING ARTHUR: LEGEND OF THE SWORD, and will hopefully rely more on stuntwork than CGI. Egerton is young and talented so he may be right at home in a role like Robin Hood, so perhaps he can sell the whole thing. That bow action does look pretty rad, so that's a plus!

ROBIN HOOD arrives November 21.
