TDK Re-release

12.05.2008

So the rumours that THE DARK KNIGHT will not be re-released are indeed false. Warner Bros. has officially announced that they will in fact re-release THE DARK KNIGHT on Jan. 23 in a nationwide launch, guaranteeing that it will become the fourth film to take in more than $1 billion in worldwide box office.

Many people are sick and tired of THE DARK KNIGHT hoopla that has overtaken our cultural landscape, but to be honest--there aint nothing those people can do. This film is a phenomenon, and it will continue to rear its head as the months pass. Especially come awards season--this film will kick some serious tail.

I'd definitely see this again. I've been wanting to see this one more time, but unfortunately, it left my local digital theater pretty early (for this type of movie.) Besides, it's not like anything good is coming out next January.

I'm also hoping for a Wall-E re-release.

Sorry to be a spoilsport, but does anyone seriously believe that this will beat Titanic? It's going to need another $70-million. I'd be surprised if a re-release pulled in half of that.

Too bad though, I'd love to see it beat Titanic.

I'd go see it again.
Only too bad the movie is too long, the 2nd villain is crammed into the last 20 or so minutes, Batman sounds gay and it's PG-13.
But it was still good enough for me to want to see a third time.

Even though TDK is a good film. For some odd reason, I don't want to see Titanic knocked off the #1 spot.

IMAX & Blu-Ray

Don't know what I'm more excited for: TDK one final time in IMAX or for the first time on Blu-Ray...

And yes, I second that: hopefully TDK can finally take down Titanic.

The ther other mega-blockbusters are

1, Titanic
2. The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King
3. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest.

Even if it opens on January, I'm gonna take a wild stab and say that I dont think "The Dark Knight" will succeed with pushing "Titanic" off in it's re-release. So far the film stands at $530.3m. My prediction will be in the $575m range. If the film has grossed $575-580m by now, maybe the film would stand a chance and pull in something like $625-650m (maybe even near $700m)

Let's see what happens, though. We've got Golden Globe announcements next week! GG and Oscar announcements are usually when increases happen.

c'mon

How 'bout a hard question for the tidbit? Didn't even have to look it up. Titanic, LOTR:ROTK, Pirates 2. (and yes, I did honestly know that off the top of my head.)

Man, I went to post my comment and I wasn't signed in. Chainsaw411 already beat me to the punch but I got two out of the three right (I guessed Titanic, Return of the King and Star Wars). Actuallt I'm pretty surprised none of the Star Wars films are on that list and Pirates is.

Of course if you adjust for inflation the list becomes much longer...
