Teaser trailer for Despicable Me 2 will serenade you

As "trailer madness" continues, we now have a teaser for next summer's DESPICABLE ME 2, featuring the ever-lovable, coverall-and-goggled yellow tots, the minions.

Get serenaded below:

Here's the lowdown:

"In Summer 2013, get ready for more minion madness in Despicable Me 2. Chris Meledandri and his acclaimed filmmaking team create an all-new comedy animated adventure featuring the return of Gru (Steve Carell), the girls, the unpredictably hilarious minions...and a host of new and outrageously funny characters."

DESPICABLE ME was one of those films I wrote off and then saw on blu ray and enjoyed quite a bit. It was a fun CGI flick that served both the kid and adult audience, which can be a common problem when you have kids.

Getting dragged to shit like CHIPMUNKS is kind of the bane of my existence, so thankfully there are movies like DESPICABLE ME to even things out.

Extra Tidbit: I would rather have my fingernails pulled out before I watch another Chipmunks movie.

That was obnoxious. The whole reason I never saw the first one is because the marketing was centered on these runts and I don't find them funny or cute at all.

Given the negative response to my comment, I guess I need to! I should know by now that marketing can be deceptive, especially with kid's movies.

Alvin and the Chipmunks

Here's an interesting fact: Chris Meledandri, the producer behind Despicable Me and Illumination Entertainment, was formerly the head of 20th Century Fox Animation, where he supervised the production of . . . Alvin and the Chipmunks. Not only that, but he later made another movie with the director of Alvin, Hop. Also, he plans on doing a live action/CG hybrid version of Curious George. What's my point? Well, I don't really have one, just that even this "good" movie is associated with your

Well, I don't really have one, just that even this "good" movie is associated with your example of a bad one. Now, the irony: Alvin and the Chipmunks is considered one of Chris Meledandri's successes with Fox and added to the reputation that brought him to Universal, where he made Despicable Me.

Studios are in the business of making money and Chris Meledandri fulfills that need with the films he produces, which is why he is so successful. Unfortunately, that means he is also responsible for some of the bad children movies that become box office successes. Chris even mentioned that one reason he partnered with Universal was because of their marketing plans. Producers are businessmen. Consider Despicable Me: even that contains characters that mainly serve as marketing ploys. Those

Consider Despicable Me: even that contains characters that mainly serve as marketing ploys. Those minions are used primarily to draw an audience. This is nothing new, but after tolerating barely half of the film, I think Despicable Me has some of the same tendencies to pander to an audience: adorable kids and cute creatures. That's one way to sell a movie.

Fact: Brown bears are better than black bears...

Just kiddin',homie. I get the irony all the way. I have not seen Hop and hope to avoid it and will never watch Chipwrecked unless I am kidnapped and forced to watch it, Clockwork Orange style.

I will be tackling this in depth with the next C'mon Hollywood...stay tuned...and stay thirsty, my friends.
