Teen Titans movie?

We had heard rumors that Fox was looking to continue the X-MEN franchise by making a movie around the X-kids (Iceman, Pyro, Kitty Pryde, et al.) but it seems that Warner Bros. has beat them to the teen superhero punch. The studio is prepping TEEN TITANS based on the DC comic and the popular Cartoon Network series. The studio has brought in Mark Verheiden ("Battlestar Galactica," "Smallville") to write a script. It's unclear at this point what characters would be involved in the screen version of the Titans but versions past and present have included such characters as Robin, Aqualad, Wonder Girl and Superboy (Robin/Nightwing is the only confirmation at this point). Before you get worried this version will skew to the teeny audience like ZOOM, producer Akiva Goldsman said to expect something more like BATMAN BEGINS. Why does everything have to be like BATMAN BEGINS? It was a great movie but the tone fit Batman perfectly. Would it be such a crime to have a light-hearted superhero comedy? Eventually there'll be a backlash if every single superhero movie is a dark, brooding drama.

Extra Tidbit: The "Teen Titans" series was cancelled in 2005 and despite fan protests, there are no plans to bring it back for another season.
