Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel to begin shooting next month in New York

03.23.2015

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 2 David Green Megan Fox William Fichtner

It's been confirmed that production on the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES sequel will start next month in New York City and Buffalo. EARTH TO ECHO's David Green is directing the follow-up (replacing TMNT's Jonathan Liebesman, who last week we learned will be helming a King Arthur project called MAN AT ARMS) from a script by Josh Appelbaum and André Nemec, and like the first film, it will be produced by Platinum Dunes' Michael Bay, Brad Fuller, and Andrew Form.

Megan Fox and William Fichtner are expected to return, although neither has officially signed on yet. Last year Jonathan Liebesman said he wanted to explore Dimension X in the sequel, but with him no longer directing the movie it's not clear if the alternate dimension/galaxy is still in the cards. However, with villains Krang, Bebop and Rocksteady possibly appearing in TMNT 2, I think there's a good chance we'll be taking a trip to Dimension X (or it will at least be alluded to) in David Green's film.

Cowabunga, I guess? TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES wasn't as bad as most critics made it out to be, but in my opinion it still wasn't a great flick. Sure, a lot of kids seemed to enjoy it and it did very well at the box office, however most adults didn't have great things to say about the film. Do you think Green and company are capable of delivering a better TMNT movie than the last one?

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES 2 is scheduled to open on June 3, 2016.

Even at the tender age of 37, I liked the film for what it was, far from perfect but I was entertained for 2 hours. Now I was 12 when the first live-action Turtles movie came out & well lets face it people, those movies were far from perfect also & have aged big time. Still love them though. Glad to see the sequels explore more from the comics though, especially bringing in Bebop, Rocksteady & even Krang.

MMMMEH

Eh, I just hope it flops. Or actually, I hope it makes its money back, but doesn't make enough to get a sequel. Just a nice, inauspicious, unremarked end that everyone can safely forget about.

Worst Remake Ever?

I'm sorry, but what? This movie captured the tones of both the show and the 90s movies, but for today's young audience. It wasnt supposed to be aimed at the kids who grew up on the 90s movies in any way other than nostalgia. It was built for today's kids like the old ones were built for my generation. Please grow up and realize this. Transformers was supposed to be aimed at older audiences- not the Turtles.

Secondly- the worst remake ever? Please. Friday the 13th? A Nightmare on Elm Street?

Secondly- the worst remake ever? Please. Friday the 13th? A Nightmare on Elm Street? Cheaper by the Dozen? Arthur? Clash of the Titans? Karate Kid? Planet of the Apes? I'm pretty sure that list keeps going well before we get to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.

Yes anything that can so utterly suck the joy out of something so beloved and make an inner child weep is the worst ever. And I guess today's kids are drooling morons if it was aimed at them

Friday the 13th... Not really a remake, could've just as easily been a part of the franchise. And if that's the worst ever, then what do you really think of the original Friday the 13ths? they are no better or no worse then any other film in that franchise. They did fuck up Freddy though.

Well, Ocelot, my inner child found it entertaining AND fun. But to each his own.

Thanks, Lenny :)

Jhowington, I agree that Friday the 13th isn't the WORST remake... But I feel it missed the tone and spirit of the original franchise in many ways that the new TMNT did not with it's predecessors. So I still place it as a worse remake than this one. And yes, they really fucked up Freddy. It's painful.

Not as bad as the critics made it out to be? It was the worst reboot I've ever seen and I've seen some real turds

Everyone wants Tokka & Rahzar back over Beebop & Rocksteady

I want a gritty and grounded sequel that brings back the key mythology characters of Tokka, Rahzar, Keno, Tatsu, and Vanilla Ice. Why follow the comic book with Beebop, Rocksteady, Krang and Casey Jones when you can make up new characters? A return appearance of Kevin Nash as Super Shredder would also be beneficial. Lets just make sure this moviebis based in reality and follows the laws of physics.

Not gonna lie, I didn't mind the first one. It wasn't as good as I wanted it to be but it was certainly better than what I feared it could be.

I've got to admit I'm a little bit excited about the prospects of Bebop and rocksteady being in it. Hoping for Casey Jones too.

Not surprised at all given the first made $485 million in theaters and probably a shit ton more in home video sales.
