Terminator release date

02.26.2008
The man they call McG now has deadline. Warner Bros. has confirmed May 22, 2009--otherwise known as Memorial Day Weekend--as the release date for his futuristic blockbuster TERMINATOR SALVATION: THE FUTURE BEGINS. Really? An early summer release? I always saw this coming out in late December, in the heart of Oscar season. I guess that’s why I’m not a studio exec (although I probably will be within three years). The film will go head-to-head with another sequel, the Ben Stiller comedy NIGHT AT THE MUSEUM 2: ESCAPE FROM THE SMITHSONIAN. Here’s some advice to both of these movies. Lose the colons, ax the second parts of your titles. They’re tedious for people like me type over and over again. Let us see the movies to find out what’s beginning and where they’re escaping from.

T4 is set in a post-apocalyptic future, after the computer system Skynet has wiped out most of the human race. Christian Bale stars as John Connor, leader of men, vanquisher of cyborgs, and Sam Worthington plays a soldier who will fight alongside him. Shooting starts on May 5 in New Mexico. The film comes out on May 22, 2009, in case any of you skipped the first paragraph.

Extra Tidbit: So which film wins the weekend? Or does one studio back down and make a move?

theres no way they're both staying in that release date, one is gonna move, and I think its gonna be Terminator

I pictured Night at the Museum more like a Nov/Dec release(thanksgiving or other holiday around that time)like the first one, i don't know if it would do as well in the summer

I think all of us that grew up in the 80's already have or are coming to the realization that nothing is sacred in Hollywood. Terminator's gettin' milked for all of it's worth, Lucas ruined Star Wars, and I think there's as many Land Before Times as there are Hbo's Real Sex series. Coincidence? Well, probably...Anyway, I remember when it was cool to see a follow-up to a movie I held close, but now I cringe everytime I hear a sequel's getting pitched for Terminator, Goonies, and, yeah, Indiana

I'm not saying there's no exceptions to the rules, I think Del Toro wanted to do Hellboy 2, I think Nolan had a vision for Batman, but that passion is few and far between.

This might be good, as long as they have something fresh to do for the story. Also I heard Bale's role will be minimal in the first film.

Yawn

I can't believe the studios have to milk a franchise until it's dry as [fill in appropriate context].

Didn't see T3. Sure as hell won't see T4, T5 or T#.
