The Amazing Spider-Man gets a "web" site

Dec. 15, 2011by: Mike Sampson

Did you like my punny headline? Thanks, I came up with that one all by myself. Horrible jokes aside, Sony has launched the official site for THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN that features a whole bunch of new material from the film.

In addition to the film's trailer, there's also new downloadable wallpaper for the major characters in the film (feel free to download the Denis Leary/Capt. Stacy wallpaper - I won't think you're weird), images, plot details and more. OK, well not much more, that's about all you usually get at an official site. But it's SPIDER-MAN. And it's refreshing to see them actually referring to Rhys Ifans as Dr. Curt Connors in an official capacity. There's still no mention of The Lizard but there are allusions to his "transformation."

I don't know that I'm 100% sold on this film yet and I'm not sure that anything here is helping sell me on it either. I like the artificial web-shooters? And I like the graffiti logo (shown up above) and wish they'd use that a little more.

We've got a bunch of images uploading to our AMAZING SPIDER-MAN preview page and you can click here to head to the film's official site.

As much as I like the first two Raimi films, this just feels more like the Spiderman movie we should have had from the start.

Swinging spidey looks awesome! I'm on for this ride, can't wait for the final trailer to show up where I'm sure we'll see Lizard in all his glory!

Story

I'm interested to see it - looks decent. I found it interesting in the "Story" page it says this is the first in a series of movies. How many movies has Garfield signed up for?

Costume looks too similar...

Not to mention that fact that Peter Parker is a high school science nerd. There is no way in hell he could make a costume like that on his own. I was really hoping they'd go with a more homemade look. Kind of like the Scarlet Spider's costume or something.

I like Scarlet Spider. Therefore, your statement is inaccurate. Plus, I was merely using it as an example. Scarlet's costume has a much more homemade look which would be nice to see since his costume looks too tailored. But I guess my comment is irrelevant since since it is a fucking fantasy movie about a boy who gets spider powers. Good day to you.

I'm glad they got rid of the Clone Storyline and most of all Ben Reilly. He was a dick.

Meh

Dark & gritty just doesn't mix well with Spiderman.
Why? I don't know.
It just doesn't.

Clearly you're never read the first 13 issues or so of Spider Man that started back in 1990. It's some of the darkest stuff i've ever seen in a marvel comic that wasn't a MAX title and it was excellent.

'Dark and gritty doesn't go with what the mainstream (ie YOU) know of Spider-Man.

Like vesaker said: there is a Spider-Man world beyond Raimi. Thank God...

Well I'm glad that there's children here with psychic powers to tell me what I know, particularly since I've been a Spiderman fan since the 70s.

Whether or not anyone has liked dark Spiderman comics is irrelevant because comics are not films, and vice versa.

Dark Knight Spiderman is not.

I think one of the reasons that Spiderman does not mix well with Dark & Gritty, may be because he's a teenager.

And there's nothing more unintentionally satirical, than a dark & gritty

In any case, it's certainly not something to take personal offense over, like I just tore up your favorite teddy bear or something.

Yes. So much so you spell Spider-Man without a 'hyphen'.

LOL! Are you serious? What, are you like 12?

And why are you placing hyphen in quotation marks? I guess that means you're not a true fan of the English language. LOL!

jjrakman, you mad bro?

I just would have thought someone who'd been reading the comics since the 70s would know how to spell Spider-Man.

As for being a 'true fan of the English language'; my friend, my country INVENTED it.

Not mad. Amused would be a more accurate word, hence the laughter.

I mean, is a hyphen or lack thereof really what you're pinning your argument on?

Would you like to play paddy-cake?
