The Amazing Spider-Man was not Sally Field's kind of movie

03.15.2016

We all know someone who really did not like THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN set of films. In fact, for fans, it becomes more difficult to find people who actually loved those movies than did not. However, you still can be surprised when someone really expresses their dislike for the film so outwardly, especially when that someone was involved with the film.

Sally Field recently made an appearance on The Howard Stern Show, where she was asked about THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN and let's just say her kind demeanor at least somewhat softens the blow of her disdain for the series.

It's not my kind of movie. But my friend Laura Ziskin was the producer, and we knew it would be her last film, and she was my first producing partner, and she was a spectacular human.

It's really hard to find a three-dimensional character in it, and you work it as much as you can, but you can't put ten pounds of shit in a five-pound bag.

And now we know the reasons for Sally Field signing on to play Aunt May in the first place.

Quick math question though - between both films, how many pounds of poop exactly makes up THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 1 and 2? Anyone?

Amzazing 2 – never mind a dump, it gave me diarrhoea

Amazing 1 was sort of getting there… silly crane driver scenes, weak villain, etc. But even so, I had high hopes for the sequel. But when I went to see it - everything that was good in the first movie was simply abandoned and replaced by the most childish, bright and colourful Spider-Man film ever. Will they ever do a sensible Spider-Man film? Garfield and Emma were fabulous, but were unable to salvage Amazing 2. What’s really sad is the fact that even though I like the casting of the next

What’s really sad is the fact that even though I like the casting of the next films – they are going to be so implausible now they are associating Spider-Man with the totally unbelievable Avengers. Us adults have f**ked it now for a real Spider-Man movie, even after fourteen years, we are still doomed to these child films. At least Daredevil on Netflix is superb. But as for Spider-Man ever being given the same respect, sigh… we might as well give up on that one.

It's OK Sally, this enormous disaster was not in the slightest bit your fault. It was Andrew Garfield's and Sony's. Andrew being a completely unlikeable, arrogant, annoying and untalented version of Toby was the biggest mistake. Sony allowing production of such a boring, weak script is second.

THEN STOP GOING TO THE MOVIES

I never saw them at the theater ... I was one of a few lucky one's that saw it via DVD!
People, you can't complaint, and yet go see it! It's like SP4 ....Is this generation stupid? It's basically the same story as SP1!

Both the Amazing Spider-Man movies were subpar compared to Raimi's Spider-Man 1 & 2, though I still think Andrew Garfield did a better job as Spider-Man than Tobey Maguire and I enjoyed Sally Field's performance as Aunt May. I just wished that the ASM movies focused more on her relationship with Peter instead of padding them with the Parkers' subplot that ultimately lead to nowhere.

Weird how in so little time fans can turn against something they once praised.

I'm pretty sure Martin Sheen thinks the same thing about the movie.

Both films absolutely sucked and were such garbage in terms of wiriting and storytelling (Laundry Sheriff????). The only positive that came out of these two films was Stone as Gwen Stacy. Instead of getting a fourth and fifth Spider Man from Raimi and Maguire, we got this worthless shit instead.

I just love how irrelevevant these two films will be now that Marvel has the rights. I mean at least the original trilogy were highly praised and acclaimed and actually finished with a coherent and

Spider-Man 3 was a satisfying conclusion? The only thing satisfying about that shit show was that it did conclude. As in it ended. And the audience didn't have to sit through any more of the stink they'd already wasted 2 hours on.

The first one wasn't poop, just bland.

It was only really the second one that took a dump on everything.

And poor Emma Stone. It pains me that she was associated with this.
