Okay, so obviously this isn't the greatest first pic of Ian McShane as Blackbeard.

It just makes me giddy seeing him on the set of PIRATES OF THE CARRIBEAN: ON STRANGER TIDES. There he is all red-faced with a full beard wedged between Penelope Cruz and Johnny Depp. (I just made McShane sound a little like Santa, didn't I?)

Cruz plays the daughter of McShane's Blackbeard. She lures Captain Jack onto her father's boat, but is torn between her father's loyalty and her past relationship with Jack. Will she deceive Jack or not? That is the question.

I'm actually a little excited for this. I'm hoping for better things since the third installment was a bit of a letdown. I've added a few more pics from the set below, there's only the one with McShane.

Hot Rod Rules
Bloom and Knightly were the weakest part of Pirates, so replacing them with McShane will rock! Also Deadwood is the best.

Ian McShane is such a good actor. I love his character of Al "Cocksucker" Swearengen in Deadwood. Good to see him in a big budget movie unlike that pile of crap case 39.

Ian McShane's first line should be "Welcome to Fucking Deadwood". McShane is the man and should bring a much needed uprising to this franchise.

I love McShane. Name one role where he didn't bring something to the table. I love the colorful history of Edward Teach for that matter, and am glad they finally decided to introduce a real Buccaneer to the lot, even if it's pure hocum. Penelope Cruz as his daughter? Eh, whatever, she's good more often than not, and VERY easy on the eyes.



I've caught bits of the other sequels on...
I love McShane. Name one role where he didn't bring something to the table. I've caught bits of the other sequels on TV, but haven't watched Jack Sparrow really since his maiden voyage. But Gore Verbinski is out and the guy who did "Chicago" is in. Also they dropped the lovebirds, which seems a smart move (How did they draw that one out three movies?). Anyway, there's enough new blood in this thing to make me at least curious.

I got sooo exited and then I saw Penelope and realized I have to hear her speak for two hours during the entire movie. And my erection went away.
