New trailer for The Boxtrolls brings more charm and laughter to stop-motion

We have a great new trailer for Laika Studios' THE BOXTROLLS directed by Anthony Stacchi and Graham Annabele. The fantastic looking stop-motion animated feature has been on my radar for a long time now simply because Laika also brought us CORALINE and PARANORMAN. Those movies were awesome therefore I have high expectations, very high.

Here's the synopsis:

The new 3D animated feature from Laika Studios tells the tale of the Boxtrolls, monsters who live underneath the charming streets of Cheesebridge, who crawl out of the sewers at night to steal what the townspeople hold most dear: their children and their cheeses. At least, that’s the legend the townspeople have always believed. In truth, the Boxtrolls are a community of lovable oddballs who are raising as one of their own an abandoned and orphaned human boy named Eggs. When the Boxtrolls are targeted by a villainous exterminator who is bent on eradicating them, Eggs must venture aboveground to save them, where he teams with an adventurous young girl to save not only the Boxtrolls but the soul of Cheesebridge.

THE BOXTROLLS looks like a winner; its charm and dark yet child friendly tone speak to me. If you're still unsure, consider it a nice break from the current slate of familiar animation. I will certainly be taking part in this adventure when it opens in 2D and 3D on September 26th 2014. The film features the voices of Ben Kingsley, Toni Collette, Elle Fanning, Isaac Hempstead-Wright, Jared Harris, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade, and Tracy Morgan

Shut up and take my money

I loved CORALINE and I thought PARANORMAN should have taken the Best Animated Film Oscar over BRAVE. This one is high on my must-see list.

Agree about ParaNorman taking the Oscar over Brave. I actually liked Brave but ParaNorman was next level stuff.

Very much so. I thought BRAVE was 2nd-tier Pixar: a worthy flick but not on the same level as RATATOUILLE or TOY STORY 3 . . . or PARANORMAN.

ParaNorman utterly knocked me off my feet and had me bawling, that was an incredibly beautiful film and this looks like a great one as well! [link]
