The Coens' Inside Llewyn Davis snubbed by the Writers Guild of America for Best Screenplay
Another day has gone by and another film-making guild has snubbed Joel and Ethan Coen's INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS. Yesterday, the PGA did not nominate the film for Best Picture and today the Writers Guild of America has left the movie off of their list as well. The Coens have become common names on awards lists for their films with a laundry list of nominations for directing, writing, and even music, score, and acting. The siblings took home the trophy for Best Picture for NO COUNTRY FOR OLD MEN and their latest, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS, has been critically acclaimed since it was released.
As we get closer to the Golden Globe Awards ceremony and eventual nominations for the Academy Awards it seems INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS is losing steam as a contender for any trophies. The reception from movie fans has seemed lukewarm to the comedy-drama about an aspiring folk singer despite making a number of top ten lists for 2013. With hot movies like AMERICAN HUSTLE and THE WOLF OF WALL STREET hitting theaters in the last few weeks, INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS may be left out of the party.
