The Crazies trailer

10.01.2009

I cannot say enough good things after watching this trailer for THE CRAZIES.

As soon as Timothy Olyphant took to the baseball field, I knew I had to see this film. Okay, I did have one issue with it. The trailer features the song "Mad World" originally by Tears for Fears, covered by Gary Jules. You might remember the song from DONNIE DARKO. Honestly, I've just heard that song so many times because of DARKO. I seriously don't want to hear it for maybe 5 years or so.

Anyway, check it out. I think Romero could be proud of this one.

Extra Tidbit: Director Breck Eisner has two interesting projects on the way: CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON and FLASH GORDON.

Officially on board

This trailer has me really wanting to see it now. If there was a case of a remake topping the original, this could very well be it.

It looks just like Romero's film, except without all that clever social commentary and black humor that Romero brings to the table. I'm going to go against the stream here and bet that this one's going to suck. It's just another slick looking, by-the-numbers horror film that takes itself entirely too seriously, which is about as much fun as eating a healthy cheeseburger or watching a classy porno.

p.s. Why do the crazy people turn into zombies? Honestly, it's one of the few Romero films

As far as remakes go...

This looks right up there with the Zack Snyder "Dawn of the Dead," remake. Which is a good thing, and hopefully worthy of Romero's blessing!

A very well made trailer that exceeded my expectations. But its just the trailer. I've been in love with Romero's original since i first saw it at 13, this looks a bit too conventional for just how (pun intended) crazy the original's narrative was.

I like the placement of Mad World, all the same, it's no more original than anything else shown.
