Here it is True Believers – this is the moment you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived. And by “the moment” I mean “one of the many moments but this one probably more than others.”  Producer Bryan Singer has revealed the title of the sequel to 2011’s X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, and it is X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST“It deals with aspects of that comic, but also some very new things said Singer.

For some of you this news will be cool because you know the source material, for some of you it this news will be inscrutable enough to be cool, and either way you’ll be right.  DAYS OF FUTURE PAST can be found in issues #141 and #142 of Uncanny X-Men, published in 1981, and “deals with a dystopian alternative future in which mutants are incarcerated in internment camps. An older Kitty Pryde transfers her mind into the younger, present-day Kitty Pryde, who brings the X-Men to prevent a fatal moment in history which triggers anti-mutant hysteria.”

Another way to phrase that, one much simpler and too the point, is “one hell of a good time.”  This storyline, even whatever base elements are borrowed to make the film, provides two truly great services in terms of an expanded 1) social relevance and 2) scope of action for everyone’s favorite pack o’ mutants. You can access the storyline’s Wikipedia page right here, spoilers and all.

Shooting is still set to start in January of 2013 with a currently-booked release date of July 18th, 2014.
