The final action-heavy trailer for X-Men: Days of Future Past is here!

Apr. 15, 2014by:

The final trailer for X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST has arrived and it's an action-heavy, epic showcase for the latest entry in the X-franchise, which brings back director Bryan Singer (X-MEN, X2) and unites the cast of the original trilogy and X-MEN FIRST CLASS. The latest "inbetwequal" finally delivers the long-awaited cinematic debut of the famed Sentinel's and features a massive cast, including Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Nicholas Hoult, Jennifer Lawrence, Shawn Ashmore, Halle Berry, Evan Peters, Peter Dinklage, Anna Paquin, Lucas Till, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Bingbing Fan, Omar Sy, and Kelsey Grammer.

Take a look:

Here's the synopsis:

The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-Men: Days of Future Past. The characters from the original X-Men film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from X-Men: First Class in an epic battle that must change the past - to save our future.

Pretty exciting trailer and definitely one to get the blood pumping for some mutant action. The Sentinel's look solid and the scope of the film, for the first time in the entirety of the franchise, feels right. Utilizing the aspects of time travel/alternate realities that is so common in the comics, this looks to me like the first X-MEN film that could fully live up to its potential (and that's not to discount those who hold X2 in such high regard). Shit, even Quicksilver looks better in this trailer, which may ease the tension a bit on the little speedster. Overall, this is definitely stacking up as THE movie to see this summer.

X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST hits theaters on May 23, 2014.

Extra Tidbit: Anyone on the fence about the film feel better about it after this?

Looks good

Though Singer's X movies were ok (1) and crappy (2). Hope he doesn't blow this one. Apt Pupil was his last movie as a director worth repeat viewings. He has faltered as a producer on one (Wolverine Origins) and did great on another (Xmen First Class).

Looking forward to this but not expecting much.

Great trailer! I think I like the international version of it even better. Seems like there is no idiot suit in Fox holding the mutants back now that Rothman has been gotten rid of. This trailer really gives a sense of the massive scope of the story. And it makes Wolverine's quest to gather the X-knights in the seventies look fantastic.

This movie looks so amazing, I'm seriously counting down the days until its release. I'm really glad that Bryan Singer and Lauren Shuler Donner are back piloting this franchise, because those two know how to make great X-Men films.

Can't wait for this despite a lot of things (the original comic isn't very good). But what's with Xavier walking? I remember previous trailers and it was suggested that he was maybe in "his mind," or someone else's. I just really hope that they he isn't crippled yet - that he just happens to suffer another spinal injury - bc it was done so well in first class

@ tidbit

I've been on the fence, and yes, this is more encouraging. I'm actually of the (minority) opinion that this storyline in the comics has a great premise, but is overrated in execution.

As far as the X-Men movies go, I felt like the characters and scenes lacked focus. First Class seemed to avoid those problems, so if Singer can absorb that and apply to his approach - this could be great. The Wolverine felt like the first time Jackman was really comfortable playing Logan (instead of pretending

The Wolverine felt like the first time Jackman was really comfortable playing Logan (instead of pretending to a be a roughneck) - and he seems to have that here. So, yes I feel better. I didn't like the trilogy very much (parts of 2 are okay) but I'd really like this to be good. The X-Men deserve to get the quality of movies that Marvel/Disney have been giving to their counterparts.

Agree 100% with u. Premise of comic is great but poorly done. The 90s cartoon handled it better

I've never been a huge fan of the original trilogy. I like the second one the best of the three, but I don't think it's the best the X-Men films could ever be. It was a good start. I definitely think Jackman has gotten better with each iteration as Wolverine, but never really "settled in" until The Wolverine. I know I sound like a broken record with the "epic scope" stuff, but that's genuinely what needs to happen in an X-film. The comics universe for the X-Men is massive, spanning time and

The comics universe for the X-Men is massive, spanning time and space, and I've always felt the movies should reflect that. This one FEELS like they're going in that direction (finally), so I'm hopeful.

And you hit the nail on the head in terms of quality. There's no reason these films couldn't achieve the same quality as their Marvel Studios counterparts.

Obviously this looks huge, complex and just a ton of action. I just hope Singer and his writing staff have blended a well thought out story for it jumping back and forth to the future and the past. Either way, looks like the best X-Men movie. Definitely there.

I'm guessing they will address that. It's happened in the comics, so they have precedent.

Looks so much better than I could have hoped for. I'm super excited about this! I have a love/hate relationship with Bryan Singer, so I'm hoping this will be his best film yet. I feel like he has learned a lot and knows what the fans want to see at this point. Also, I'm guess Xavier walking is probably Mystique.

Yeah, this trailer just made this film look like the best comic book film of the year. It'll be difficult to overcome Winter Soldier, but that trailer makes the film look like it will match the Winter Soldier in terms of scope and grand storytelling. And easily looks like the biggest, best, and boldest X-Men film yet and as of recent one of the best comic book films to come out alongside Winter Soldier.

It looks grand and entertaining, I just hope it's self-contained enough because there's the potential to be messy with all those characters and the two timelines. But it looks like we're getting more out of the Erik - Charles fragile friendship and that's all I can ask for. Hope they explain the out-of-wheelchair Charles, and maybe offer an explanation about Bolivar Trask not being Bill Duke.

yup, that did it.

now that's a proper x-men trailer. maybe, the quicksilver breaking into the pentagon scene could be the new nightcrawler breaking into the white house scene.

How is Xavier walking in this movie? The ending of fist class put him in his wheelchair....
Other then that, great trailer and love that the look for the sentinels is different in the past then in the future. But hated tha music that came with the trailer... didn't feel right. Kept thinking of Godzilla.

They might take the angle that he wasn't actually paralysed at the end of First Class, after all the way it happened in the movie wasn't how it happened in the comics. Or maybe he should be resting his back in the chair but decides to walk regardless and makes it worse. Or the scenes where he is walking he is actually using his powers to make it appear to those watching that he is walking.

If I remember rightly, First Class took place in the 60's , this looks like it takes place in the 70's.

Will be there opening night!

I'm sure the usual criticisms about "too much wolverine" or "quicksilver looks bad" will remain... But the potential awesomeness of the battles with past and future sentinels is worth watching... even if Halle Berry's Storm was in the whole thing.

It doesn't bother me personally, but the fact that they changed the time traveler from Kitty Pryde to Wolverine, just so the movie can be about him – that's not an unfair criticism to make.

Kitty Pryde was not even bored yet hence why it's Wolverine. If Kitty Pryde went back she wouldn't exist, the sperm had still yet to make it to the egg.

Best trailer yet, I think.

For some reason this one has me more excited for the film than the previous trailers. My one BIG gripe with the movie (and I have a few minor ones) is the design of the "future" Sentinels. They look like the robots from the distant future in A.I.

This movie was always my most anticiapted summer blockbuster, and I'm even more excited after this trailer. It'll be hard to top Captain America: TWS, but this film could do it. It looks like comic book films for 2014 will be much better than those of 2013.
