In news that shouldn't surprise anyone, the release date for Niels Arden Oplev's remake of FLATLINERS has been pushed back. In news that should be surprising, it's only moving back a month, from August 18, 2017 to September 29, 2017.

This is a much cushier Fall date for a horror film that doesn't come with the Blockbuster expectations of the Summer season, so it doesn't seem like the studio has lost faith in the project. They're probably just making room for a bigger project that weekend. Time will tell, I suppose. And boy is there a lot of it between now and then.

Written by Peter Filardi and directed by Joel Schumacher, the original FLATLINERS has the following synopsis:

At University Hospital School of Medicine, a group of ambitious medical students are about to die… and live to describe the experience.

Embarking on a daring and arrogant experiment, the five aim to push through the confines of life and touch the face of death. In their search for knowledge, however, the five discover the chilling consequences of daring to tamper with immortality.

The cast includes Ellen Page, Diego Luna, Kiersey Clemons, James Norton, Nina Dobrev, Beau Mirchoff and supermodel Charlotte McKinney as a naughty nurse. Original star Kiefer Sutherland will be joining them. SOURCE CODE's Ben Ripley has written the screenplay for this new take on the material.
