The latest Amazing Spider-man 2 viral story teases the infamous Clone Saga

01.10.2014

In the history of comics there are few storylines as infamous as the Clone Saga. In the two year arc, it was revealed that there were numerous clones of the superhero including the man we thought had been Peter Parker. Eventually this led to the clone being renamed Ben Reilly. But, there were other elements to the story that have direct connections to where Marc Webb and team are taking us with THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2.

In the latest post on The Daily Bugle viral site, we have this post:

Manhattan’s Empire State University announced a new class for the 2014 fall semester in advanced biogenetics that will actually require the successful cloning of a living creature. Introduction to Live Cloning, taught by noted geneticist Professor Miles Warren, is the first class of its kind anywhere in the world.

Miles Warren is the name of the biology professor to Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. After Gwen's death in the comic books, Warren becomes The Jackal and clones both Gwen and Peter, once he learns Peter is Spider-man. Eventually, the Spider-man clones work together. Warren eventually is cloned as the villain Carrion. Hijinks ensue.

Whether or not THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 begins the death of Gwen Stacy storyline that has been rumored since filming began, the continued population of the movie world with more characters from the comics shows that there is still a lot of material to mine for future films and spin-offs. I mean, if they do introduce Ben Reilly as a character, could that mean a potential Scarlet Spider spin-offf franchise?

THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 hits theaters on May 2, 2014.

Ultimate Spider-man

If you've read the Brian Michael Bendis take on the clone saga it's actually one of the BEST story arcs of Ultimate Spider-man series. The twist on Spider-woman is pretty fun, too.

The whole clone doppelganger idea is terrible. But if they use the Jackal as a mad science villain with the ability to mix up genes and create new super-freaks it could be interesting. I really think they need to not have every new villain come out of Osbourne industries.

So, if this truly follows the comic, then by the time we reach The Amazing Spider-Man part 4 we will find out that Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man was actually a clone of Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man all along. Then Maguire will take back the mantle of Spider-Man and Garfield will become The Scarlet Spider.

Incidentally...do you know that the comic 101 ways to end the Close Saga or whatever it was called was the most profitable comic I ever sold on Ebay. Bought the comic for 1.50...and sold it for over 7.00 a couple of years ago. What a total f*ck up of a story line by Marvel but at least it made me a bit of money in the end. Then again I did buy all those stupid 4 part limited series that came out costing me a small fortune...telling effing 10 million stories...of what Peter does when he

Once again Im being proven right that when you do not have smart people making the right decisions when it comes to these properties you eventually have some of the biggest mistakes. Sony is slowly heading down the same mistake ridden world as DC is with their properties. I think the coming years will give a clear indication of who should do comic book movies and clearly who should not.

This was the reason I stopped collecting comics. Think the year was 1997.

What the fuck is Sony thinking!

I saw The first amazing Spider-man because of the "untold" story aspect. But they fucked me on that. Now they're putting out these viral stories to peak interest into future Spider-Man movies. Just get one right and go from there. I would be saying the same thing if Nolan's Batman movies were doing the same thing. Just make a good movie with a good cohesive story with enough of an opening to do a sequel, even if you don't plan n . When you blatantly are leaving huge doors open for more movies

When you blatantly are leaving huge doors open for more movies that's a cash grab and I won't bite after a while. I truly have no reason to see this in the theater and I honestly don't support this franchise until I hear good word of mouth from the comic book community.

Yeah, it was infamous

Because everybody hated it. Why would you try to adapt one of the most hated story lines in comic history? Don't do it. Just don't. It's a terrible idea

I feel like this franchise is trying to accomplish too much in such a short amount of time.

This was the single worst storyline Marvel has ever done. I can't believe the movies would want to do this.

Why was it bad? I haven't read it personally, I just came across one issue where Ben Reilly was Spider-man and Peter Parker was without powers.

I like how they are planting the seeds for future storylines. As long as they don't hit the reset button and start again.
