The Lost Boys TV series Rob Thomas

With the final season of The Vampire Diaries bringing the show to a close later this year, it looks as though The CW wants to follow it up with yet another vampire series. Deadline has reported that they'll be re-imagining Joel Schumacher's THE LOST BOYS for television. The adaptation comes from Veronica Mars and iZombie creator Rob Thomas and he has a rather interesting and ambitious plan for how the series will tell its story.

Envisioned for a seven-season run, Deadline says that the story of The Lost Boys will span 70 years with each season chronicling a decade. The first season will be set in San Francisco in 1967 but each proceeding season will have different human characters, different settings, different antagonists and different stories; only the Lost Boys themselves will remain the same throughout the series' run. Keeping the focus on the vampires this time around is a bit of a departure from Schumacher's original, which followed Jason Patric and Corey Haim as two brothers who moved into a new town and found themselves facing off with a vampire gang led by Kiefer Sutherland.

What are your thoughts on THE LOST BOYS as a TV series?
