The most "monstrous" trailer for Gareth Edwards' Godzilla has arrived!

Apr. 28, 2014by: Paul Shirey

Man, what a badass late night surprise! I thought to myself, "Well, another GODZILLA trailer, huh?" But, when I hit play I had no idea what awesomeness awaited. Now, for those that are trying to keep themselves as in the dark as possible, I'd recommend steering clear, although it doesn't really spoil anything. The trailer shows more of not only GODZILLA, but of his monstrous flying nemesis as well, including a hint at his "origin." I had a number of "OH yeah!" moments while watching this. Let's see if you do, too.

"Let them fight":

Here's the synopsis:

The world's most famous monster is pitted against malevolent creatures who, bolstered by humanity's scientific arrogance, threaten our very existence.

This is just another log on the fire of my excitement for this bad boy. I never thought I'd be so excited to see a GODZILLA movie. Okay, that's a lie, I was actually very excited for Roland Emmerich's version, but we all know how that turned out. I feel like the faith of fans will really be rewarded with this one, though.

GODZILLA, directed by Gareth Edwards and starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Ken Watanabe, David Strathairn, and Juliete Binoche stomps into action on May 16, 2014.

"Let them fight." That may the best line in the whole movie.

So it looks like "Rodan" and a "hybrid of Legion & Irys from Gamera" are in this. I'm still in.

It looks nothing like Rodan. The only similarity is that it has wings.

Untill this trailer, I thought Godzilla is the only monster in this movie. I think most people think that also... and that may not be a good thing. It's like the trailers for NOAH, where the rock giants were not shown. Then, in the theater, everyone was like "What the F. are these?"
Still, it may turn out to be great, but I say, the marketing was misleading so far.

Wonder how many monsters we're getting in this. Was the flying thing the Muto creature we've already heard about, only it had a dash of Rodan about it.
If this movie even hints at the existence of the rest of Toho's classic monsters I'll be fairly happy.

There should be three of the MUTOS monsters (all the same, but at different stages of development). Edwards said in an earlier interview that the three origami creatures in the Japan nuclear disaster shot were foreshadowing of what was coming.

Well, everything except the number of monsters, any monster fighting, any real military fighting (either Godzilla or MUTOS), explanation of Godzilla's origin, explanation of the MUTOS origin, the government's involvement with the MUTOS, what monster actually attacks us first, or basically any of the actors decisions or motivations (outside of Cranston's wife dying, his son getting married and loving his wife, and them having one kid).

So no, not "fucking everything."

I haven't been this excited over a trailer for a long time.
The last time was Man Of Steel and that movie was disappointing , I hope Godzilla lives up to the hype!

That is not Muto, theyve confirmed that there are 2 monsters in this that Godzilla battles. Muto and an "unnamed" 2nd one (which we saw in this trailer)

{sigh} There are THREE monsters in the movie, and they ARE ALL MUTOS. They are the same creature, just at different stages of development. The flying one had arms, they were just tucked into it's chest for flight.

Edwards revealed the number of monsters during his trailer description video. He said that the three origami birds in the Japan nuclear accident scene were foreshadowing of what was coming.

Whoa, wait a minute. Are you telling me that they intentionally awake Godzilla to fight apocalyptic monsters?!
This movie just became my #1 movie to watch this summer!!! I never in a million years thought I would see THIS kind of Godzilla movie from America. I thought this was yet another "Godzilla Attacks city" story.
