The new dark and eerie motion poster for Buried

05.19.2010

BURIED also known as the one man show starring Ryan Reynolds has been cranking out some clever marketing.

That definitely goes for this motion poster. This new form of advertising definitely goes hand in hand with a film like BURIED. So far I've only seen motion posters for 4 different movies: THE OTHER GUYS, A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET, TERMINATOR SALVATION, and this one. It should be interesting to see how many other films follow suit.

So tell me what you think of this mopo. Make sure your sound is on.

Extra Tidbit: Reynolds was offered the role of Xander on BUFFY THE VAMPIRE SLAYER.

Nice use of Bohren & Der Club of Gore's "Skeletal Remains" for the fade-out music.

Buried....?

I wish Ryan Reynolds really was buried. Then his sweet wife would run to me. ME!

Cool!

This is what we need, more motion posters and less 3D films!

Guess you forgot the one on JoBlo for Terminator Savation back in November 2008 [link]

I did forget about that one. Sheesh. Guess I'll be adding that to the list.

I loved the one for The Other Guys. I thought the Nightmare on Elm Street one was an OK idea with shit execution.

This one is quite cool, but I can't see it turning any heads when it gets used in places like the London Underground (where I saw my first motion poster), due to the heavy use of black and tiny text.

So you have to wonder what the point of a motion poster is on the internet where trailers and clips can be released, but not really containing enough motion in it to catch the

OK.....

I'm one of the first ones to bash the crapfest know as Ryan Renynolds, but I have to say, I will check this movie out. I love these type of horror/thrillers (a la Open Water, Frozen, etc.), but I just don't see him as a leading man much less an extra on the set.

Did you just...

...coin the term "mopo?" Sheer brilliance.

As are the idea of motion posters. Very cool new way of advertising. I personally dug The Other Guys the best. This one's decent. I still can't tell how the film's going to keep my interest for 90 minutes, but I'll give it the benefit of the doubt. Cool stuff.

Sadly, I cannot take credit for that. I think when JoBlo sent me an email for the NOES mopo he used it first. ;)

I did however use it to replace "mofo". So I don't know if that counts for anything.
