The new trailer for Hitman: Agent 47 looks much better than the first one

06.23.2015

Four months ago, we got the first trailer for HITMAN: AGENT 47 which looked like a cut-rate action movie right out of Luc Besson's wheelhouse. Rupert Friend, cast to replace the late Paul Walker, seemed like an odd choice for the lead role in what appeared to have little connection to the video game that inspired it. While the first film with Timothy Olyphant was no masterpiece, HITMAN: AGENT 47 looked forgettable.

A new trailer has been released and I have to say that I am actually now interested in seeing HITMAN: AGENT 47. With a lot more plot development, the new trailer actually seems like it has a bit of an intriguing story behind it along with the introduction of Hannah Ware as a female Agent.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones -- endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.

Make no mistake, I do not think HITMAN: AGENT 47 is going to be a masterpiece. But, from this new trailer, it looks like it could be a fun summer action diversion along the lines of last year's LUCY. I cannot get over how non-threatening Rupert Friend sounds, but the action choreography looks solid. Plus, Zachary Quinto makes a pretty good bad guy.

There is also a new contest being run via Facebook to try and locate Agents 1 through 46. Take your picture as a Hitman and submit it to try and win cool prizes including a customized dossier and a chance to see an advance screening of the film.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 opens on August 28th.

it was interesting. I didn't mind the fact that there was no romantic interest. Gives you more time for action but you more nice video check this way and comment me

While this looks like it could be an okay actioneer, as an adaptation of Hitman, it once again proves that the interest in making a decent video game movie is slim to none. And Hitman really wouldn't be a difficult series to adapt. Other films have done what Hitman does well, so it's really just a matter of copying them. Not too difficult.

From a technical standpoint, it does look better than the first trailer, which had some seriously bad cgi in it. The shots that were included just look better. Still, the twist being revealed is rather weaksauce, and Rupert Friend lacks real presence, and keeps sounding French for some reason.

Probably awful, but looks like a decent way to kill a lazy afternoon...via Netflix.

"Fun" and "Lucy" cannot belong in the same sentence.

This movie might be a fun time waster, but as a huge Hitman fan, I can't stand that there is still hair on the head of 47. Put a skull cap on that head! He's supposed to be bald, not shaven.

Man, at first when I saw the 4 on the poster I thought it was the new Fantastic Four movie. Thank God it's Hitman.

They just played their hand

While this trailer was slightly better, they made a big mistake I think. The first trailer set up 47 as the pseudo-bad guy/antihero in the first trailer. It had me interested, if not excited for the movie. In this they literally showed that this is the first film, essentially, with a super-powered damsel instead of a powerless one. Shock coming from the same screen writer.

yeah, lately movies have been doing that. Look at Terminator: Genisys. People were so against this movie coming out that they had to ruin the movie twist in the latest trailer on revealing that John Conner was the bad guy. Same thing is happening here. The studio felt they weren't going to get viewership so they through the plot twist into the trailer. I think it is a bad marketing move.
