The Ninja Turtles and Pizza Hut team up to bring you something really cheesy

Jul. 8, 2014by: Sean Wist

The Ninja Turtles are synonymous with deliciously cheesy pizza, so it comes with little surprise that there would be some cross promotion, given the film's release date a month away. It looks like the pizza partner in crime will be none other than Pizza Hutt, and they're bringing back Cheesy Bites. Don't believe me (why would you not)?

Check out this video announcing the new deal:

Carrie Walsh, Chief Marketing Officer at Pizza Hut, had this to say:

There's no denying the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' love of pizza, which is one of the many reasons it fits having our brand fuel their hunger in the upcoming film. Coupling the popularity of the Ninja Turtles to our pizza innovation, we're thrilled to be bringing back a fan favorite in Cheesy Bites Pizza that combines the great pizza taste with a little 'food fun' for fans to enjoy.

LeeAnne Stables, Executive Vice President of Marketing Partnerships at Paramount Pictures, then said something even cheesier:

We just couldn't seem to keep the Turtles from devouring all the Pizza Hut pizza on set. This national partnership delivers so many cool and innovative ways for Ninja Turtle fans to take part in the excitement around the film release.

Wait a minute! Couldn't seem to keep the Turtles from devouring all the Pizza Hut on set?!? I have it on good authority (sorry, can't share my source) that the Turtles are, in fact, computer generated in the upcoming film. That either means one of two things: That Ms. Stables has falsified that information or that the CG creations have risen up and destroyed their masters, and nothing will satiate their wanderlust save for delicious pizza.

In all seriousness, I'm a pizza whore, so I usually go along with whatever promotion chains tend to push. Just throw in some wings (or is it wyngz?) and call it a day. They'll be running a few other promotions you can read about here, but that apparently includes a "hidden menu" on the site, showcasing each Turtle's favorite pizza toppings. I'll go ahead and spoil it for you now.

Donatello's Favorite Pizza: chicken, mushroom, green pepper and tomatoes

Leonardo' s Favorite Pizza: onions, black olives, green pepper and mushrooms

Michelangelo' s Favorite Pizza: pepperoni, ham, pineapple and jalapeno

Raphael' s Favorite Pizza: pepperoni, Italian sausage, bacon and beef

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES will hopefully have some pizza time when their movie hits on August 8, 2014.

I remember being a kid when Godzilla '98 teamed with Taco Bell or when Lord of the Rings teamed with Burger King. As silly as it sounds, just knowing those establishments were anyway affiliated with my favorite films/characters made going to them like an extension of the film which can be pretty special and have a lasting impact. I'm sure we all have similar memories and still, we love those films. Point is, just take this stuff as what it is: fun. There are so many better uses of time than

I'd just like to point out that in the 1990 movie, their pizza of choice was Dominos. Yeah. If anything, Pizza Hut is a step up.

I cannot seem to post replies?
in any case @slim and American -

I think the nitpicking is to be expected when there is a current comic book and a current tv show that seem to be doing it all right AND faithful - why cant the movie do the same?

then again no one has seen the movie, so it may end up being amazing!
but I can understand the nitpicking.

and in any case who cares - you can either hate it or enjoy it on your own terms without having to get annoyed at the others who nitpick.

They did this promotion with the Muppets Movie and EVERY Superbowl too

Also, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Papa Johns, they are all cancerous cardboard replicas of food. It's all disgusting crap that looks and tastes like greasy gopher guts.

Here's my impression of all the shallow fanboys that are nitpicking about this movie: Oh my god! The turtles never ate cheesy bites. Michael Bay can't even get the pizza promotion right. This movie will undoubtedly suck now!

Ill have to wait to pass final judgment on this movie. I love the current cartoon, its brilliant. I love the original movie and TMNT, the old cartoon was way too cheese, but the new comics are amazing and I have to say the effects in this new movie look pretty great.
The designs on the turtles themselves is too busy and I don't like the lips (lips on transformers, lips on turtles?) but I mean it could be a fun movie on it's own terms, but I am not holding my breath.
