The official trailer for Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight is here!

08.12.2015

In post-Civil War Wyoming, bounty hunters try to find shelter during a blizzard but get involved in a plot of betrayal and deception. Will they survive? We wont know for sure until the end of the year, but the first official trailer for Quentin Tarantino's THE HATEFUL EIGHT has arrived! Featuring the acting talents of Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Samuel L. Jackson, Tim Roth, Channing Tatum, Michael Madsen, Walton Goggins, Demian Bichir, and Bruce Dern, Tarantino's latest will providd audiences with the kind of ensemble cast you can only see in...well, a Tarantino flick! Check it out!

The set-up for THE HATEFUL EIGHT can be summed up in one sentence, so the trailer really doesn't need to dive much into the story per se. Rather, this film rests on the shoulders of all the colorful characters who will inhabit this cabin. Russell and Leigh steal the show here, but given the writer/director we're dealing with, I'm sure the other characters will all get their moments to shine. How do you think this trailer stacks up with Tarantino's previous'? Sound off!

THE HATEFUL EIGHT opens exclusively in 70mm-capable theaters on December 25th, then everywhere else on January 8, 2016.

Those who didn't like the trailer clearly don't know a Tarantino movie, stick to your comic book flicks then.

OK, what you said doesn't apply at all. You're clearly just looking for a way to bash people that didn't like it.

Please tell me how it's like a Tarantino movie other than the fact that you know it's his movie...There were no one liners, dialogue that made you or anyone think it was a QT movie. Nothing much was said at all and in no way looked like stuff he's done before....And I doubt QT put the trailer together anyway.

Not to mention the fact that people are physically capable of liking both Tarantino AND comic book movies at the same time. (gasp!)

Looks Amazing

I haven't followed much of this during production, and didn't think anything of it, But seeing this trailer, and knowing how good QT is at making a movie, this looks better than Django in my opinion. Somehow it manages to remind me of reservoir dogs. This looks awesome, and I cant wait.

i love Tarantino...

...but that was his most underwhelming trailer, by far. It didn't get my juices flowing, and having read the original script, I'm a tad concerned about the final product.
But I'm hoping for the best!

Even if the trailer was 'meh' it's still Quentin 'Motherfucking' Tarantino. You know the final quality of the film will be great even if the trailer is different than what we thought it would be.

Be seeing it opening weekend but I'll agree the trailers not great.

As for the people who say its the same old stuff from Tarantino, I could probably watch 20 of 30 films by him before getting tired of his signature style. The dialogues always great as is the action, acting, and genre elements.

Plenty of filmakes do there own thing. Tarantino's thing is so unique and so good I'm never getting tired of it 9not to say I wouldent want to see him dabble with some different genre's

I'm saying words being thrown around here like, "if this wasn't directed by QT would you care?" I honestly would, Kurt Russell is enough draw for me, he's my guy but throw in Walton Goggins, Bruce Dern, Michael Madsen too, hot damn. I'm a little over the guy's style, I feel like I'll be divided with this one but he's making original movies and with film, I respect that A LOT.

I only said that if it wasn't a QT movie, people wouldn't think the trailer was great like they do. Not that people wouldn't care about the movie if it wasn't directed by QT.

It might be good, but thumbs down for the trailer.

Many QT fans will say they loved the trailer, but that's just because it's QT. If they saw this trailer and it was made by someone they haven't heard of, a new guy, they would think the same thing I do, that the trailer was nothing special at all. That it wasn't even that good.

QT's supporters will definitely give me thumbs down, no matter what, for what I just said.

I have to disagree. If the trailer were the product of an unknown, we'd probably have high regard for it. But since its Tarantino, its underwhelming. But as you said, it'll likely be good. As matter of fact, I think it'll probably be tremendous like most of his work.

The more I think about it, not sure I really needed a trailer. The story is single-location, and you can't show characters dying without spoiling it. I'm a fan of old westerns. You slap QT's name on it, with THAT cast, what use is the trailer other than every movie has one?

Yup, It looks like a Tarantino flick

and that's good enough for me. The cast is stellar: I never thought anyone could upstage Kurt Russell in "tough guy" mode but damn if Jennifer Jason Leigh didn't pull it off.

It looks like a Tarantino film! That is enough for me. The bonus is that cast and that it is a western. What is not to like? It is like saying Meh, Star Wars:Force Awakens looks like just another Star Wars film with droids and the force and even Han and Chewy, same old same old, give me a break, that is what I want especially when seeing a Tarantino film.

Same old, same old

Looks like it will retread a lot of QT's typical tropes rather than break exciting new ground. The trailer screams "Reservoir Dogs in a log cabin"... which COULD be awesome if done right but seems more likely to be ultimately disappointing.

OK, sure, a lot of characters, not much revelation. I wouldn't have hated an introduction to all the characters. We got John Ruth and Daisy Domergue. And Samuel L. Jackson as Himself. For Tarantino purists, the fact that this is set in one location with a lot of tension means plenty of time for his dialogue-driven scenes. And really, I go to his movies to listen to his characters talk, and weasel their way in and out of situations. Sometimes that includes violence, often just a wink, a smile,

We'll see if this lives up to expectations from people who don't care what the trailer looks like, just who made it and who's in it. My biggest selling point is still that he's working with Morricone on the soundtrack.

Do not understand why this trailer is getting such a bad reaction. It's on par with all of QT's other movies from a dialogue/set piece perspective. It didn't show a lot of action, probably b/c it's a trailer and not the actual movie, but it's QT so we know it's going to get plenty violent. I for one am looking forward to this one based on the trailer, just looks like a good time at the theatre.

People really disliked the trailer for Django... That was one of the best movies of the year.

QT has the oddest fanbase. People really claim they dislike his movies and any promotion for his movies until they see it and come out of the theater saying it was the best movie of the year. It happened with Kill Bill, Django and even Inglorious Basterds.

I think it's because he doesn't stick with one genre. So all of his Pulp Fiction fans groan when they see him doing a Western. Or his Jackie Brown fans see him doing a WW2 film.

Disagree. Personally, I hated Django. Thought it was a tired retread of Inglourious Basterds with Nazis traded out for slave owners. And if Tarantino "doesn't stick with one genre," then why has he made two Westerns in a row? Count me in the with the crowd totally disinterested in this film. If the reviews are spectacular, I'll probably go see it. Otherwise... meh.

I don't recall people not liking Django Unchained trailer at all. There were die-hards and naysayers. Inglorius Basterds, on the other hand, people were real skeptical about that one.

I've never really heard many people to dislike QT's trailers or movies. I remember Django having a lot of positive buzz from general movie-goers prior to it's release. I don't remember what the reaction was like to Inglorious Basterds as I never saw that until after it was nominated for an Oscar, at that point the talk was all positive.

But I get what you mean though. He flips through different genres all the time, not in a bad way, just constantly tries out different stuff. He stuck

He stuck with the crime/noir type of stories through Reservoir Dogs - Jackie Brown, Switched it up with a Japanese revenge for Kill Bill 1&2. Did a WW2 movie and two westerns. So it's hard to get a specific sense of what each film is going to be like.
