The Oscar for Best Original Song may go to one of these 75 potential nominees

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

In recent years, we have seen a less than stellar group of nominees for Best Original Song, culminating in the 2 song category last year which was won by Bret McKenzie for “Man or Muppet”. Could we have an uneventful category again this year? Not if this list of candidates has anything to say about it.

The Academy unveiled the list of all 75 songs that are eligible for the Oscar this year, including some sure bets like Adele’s SKYFALL theme or the new LES MISERABLES song “Suddenly” which was written specifically for the film. DJANGO UNCHAINED has four songs in contention while animated movies like WRECK-IT RALPH, BRAVE, MADAGASCAR 3, and ICE AGE: CONTINENTAL DRIFT has some as well.

I would say Adele is the likely frontrunner in this category, but hopefully we will see some unique nominees. Check out the full list below.
