The poster for season four of The Walking Dead teases epic zombie battles

Jul. 1, 2013by: Alex Maidy

It is becoming a 4th of July tradition for THE WALKING DEAD to have marathons of prior seasons and this year will be no different. The added bonus this year is that all three seasons of the show will be airing over the course of the holiday along with special black and white episodes for the entire first season of the show.

The black and white pilot episode airing was the idea of show creator Frank Darabont who did the same thing with his great movie THE MIST. THE WALKING DEAD works well in black and white and seeing them keep this tradition alive is awesome. The marathon will be hosted by Kevin Smith who will be filming behind the scenes sneak peeks from the set of season four in Georgia.

As another treat, the badass season four poster has been revealed in advance of Comic Con. it features Andrew Lincoln and Norman Reedus looking worn out as Rick and Darryl. Also on the poster are looks at Michonne (Danai Gurira) and Tyreese (Chad Coleman) kicking zombie ass with a hammer and a horse. Noticeably absent from the poster is any look at The Governor (David Morrissey).

THE WALKING DEAD premieres season four this October. For the marathon this week, Season 1 airs back to back in color and black and white on July 4th, season 2 on July 5th and season 3 on July 6th and 7th. Click the poster above for a bigger version.

I'm still a fan of the show, but the season 3 finale was terribly written for having such great build up before it. Like drzoom said below, the show has flashes of brilliance only to be dragged down again by its stupidity.

I would love to see TWD in black and white......but with blood being the only colour. That would be sickly awesome.

love/hate relationship

There are so many moments in this show where I stand up and cheer. And there are equally (if not more) moments where I'm just blown away at how awful it is. Do any of these actors know what subtlety is? I guess I'm just so spoiled with Breaking Bad.

Unfortunately, I think we're all spoiled by Breaking Bad. Haven't been able to find a show that even comes close to measuring up to it's greatness.

The poster is a prime example of what this show has become: buildup. Honestly, it does nothing for me.

At this point, I'd like to see something along the lines of a Breaking Bad season 5 poster (All Hail the King) where Rick and the rest of the group finally get the upper hand on the zombie apocalypse. They have a prison. They should be secure now. For at least one season just do something else.

Poster looks cool. I'll continue to watch this show if it got worse coz that's how I am...but I agree with others about being let down by the anticlimactic end to season 3. I mean that kick ass start to the second half of season 3...going back to perhaps the episode where Rick meets those two guys in the bar during season 2 (not to mention the first few episodes of season 1) has to be the bar they set all shows to...and outside of these episodes, it's fallen quite short. God that bar episode

God that bar episode has to be one of my favourites – the tension was great – I’d say the axe to the head scene was a great moment too...almost the best…had the bar shoot out scene not come first.

As long as this new season makes up for the complete letdown of the anticlimactic Season 3 finale. Seriously, building up the entire season to the big war between Rick's group and the Governor's....only to have them run out after 5 minutes of fighting, the Governor slaughters his own people, and then him and 2 henchman ride away? I get they wanted to end the season on a happy note for once with Rick bringing in the people from Woodbury without much of a fight, but it just didn't work. Makes it

Makes it seem like the writers are making this up as they go along. Cautiously optimistic though!

can't wait for season 4!! Bring it on! I hope they show what happened to Ricks wife. I'm sure she must have died, but where did the body go?

When Rick goes nuts and starts answering the phone, before that he enters the room and there's a fat zombie sat on the floor finishing a meal - guess what that meal was. You can see her hair down the front of his shirt etc. It's lovely Sunday afternoon stuff really.

I believe this show falls into the category of "needs a conclusion". While 3 seasons isn't long in terms of any average (successful) television show, it feels like this show has already played itself out. Season 3 felt very predictable, too generic, and never really went anywhere in the face of exaggerated tensions. More importantly, I frequently had to turn off my brain and stop thinking logically about where all the bodies/zombies keep coming from.

What used to feel like a smart and fresh take on a zombie apocalypse, is now feeling like a cash cow stuck in the mud of mediocrity. They will never do it since far too many still tune in, but I'd like to see them do the show some justice and conclude it properly.

I'm a fan of the show. I do enjoy it tremendously, but I'm in total agreement with all the criticisms everyone makes of the show. I think I continue to tune in just b/c I'm a sucker for anything zombie. But wwallace is right, this show does need a conclusion. Or at least the writers need to start thinking of where this show is headed. I think they should aim to end it after 5 maybe even 6 seasons. Right now they seem to be stuck with where it's heading and are just treading water until

It should be good. As long as it doesn't go the World War Z route (praying that doesn't happen)

I enjoyed world war z, but I know what ya mean. Not enough blood for my taste. Keep the walkers bloody I say, and try to use as little cgi as possble!

Looking Good!

The first season was great (I got that on Bluray), the second season was "meh"...drawn out character development, but the third season was da bomb! I'm optimistic that the fourth season will be similar to the third season, and grab more viewers.

I'm more in a 'meh' mood for this show now

The show is still good, but there has been a lot of wasted time on the show. Every season starts out strong and then kind of just sputters off in the end. The end of last season was a complete downer. I'll still be watching but it isn't must-see for me.
