The power of JoBlo compels you to see these two new stills from The Last Exorcism

May. 18, 2010by:

Today's standards in horror fail to impress me. The only thing to look forward to is the next slasher/zombie/monster B-movie that can provide a few laughs because it's just so damn bad.

Even though the topic of exorcism has already been touched on and mastered in film with THE EXORCIST, I think there's always room for another try. For example, THE EXORCISM OF EMILY ROSE was a fairly popular film when it was released. I'll be honest, any film or show containing the topic of exorcism frightens me.

So when it comes THE LAST EXORCISM, I'm a little creeped out. Any girl bent over backwards drenched in blood just sends a chill down my spine. Today we have two new images from the film. This first photo begs to be captioned.

The film is directed by Daniel Stamm and written by Huck Botko. Eli Roth is producing.

Official Synopsis:

"When he arrives on the rural Louisiana farm of Louis Sweetzer, the Reverend Cotton Marcus expects to perform just another routine "exorcism" on a disturbed religious fanatic. An earnest fundamentalist, Sweetzer has contacted the charismatic preacher as a last resort, certain his teenage daughter Nell is possessed by a demon who must be exorcized before their terrifying ordeal ends in unimaginable tragedy."

"Buckling under the weight of his conscience after years of parting desperate believers with their money, Cotton and his crew plan to film a confessionary documentary of this, his last exorcism. But upon arriving at the already blood-drenched family farm, it is soon clear that nothing could have prepared him for the true evil he encounters there. Now, too late to turn back, Reverend Marcus own beliefs are shaken to the core when he and his crew must find a way to save Nell and themselves before it is too late."

even though the topic frightens me as well I just can't help myself and I always want to check anything out with the word excorsism in it and this film is no exception, I still have nightmares with the original excorcist, the scariest freaking movie I've seen.

The only exorcism movie I really liked...

... was "The Exorcist III." It had the best story. "The Exorcist," while shocking, is not what I would consider very frightening. Kind of silly, actually. I suspect it will eventually take its place among such fare as the William Castle horror films of old. Unlike... say... Robert Wise's "The Haunting," or Jack Clayton's "The Innocents," both truly atmospheric and creepy films.

Since his name's been brought up, Eli Roth, along with Brad Pitt and that horrible, horrible ending, helped ruin

I'll be honest..

Nothing made me laugh louder than seeing Eli Roth at the OSCARS.

I'm sure he soaked that in before heading back to HOSTEL 3: THE STABBENING

Looks alright enough, but Terminal's gotta point in that, not matter what, every movie dealing with exorcism is going to be compared to The Exorcist and will fail. There's never going to be a better exorcism movie than The Exorcist.

Every Exorcism movie blows after Friedkin's masterpiece, and Eli Roth is a shit faced no talent hack. I'll pass.

Can't wait!

This could be seriously good. Eli Roth is hit or miss for me. Cabin Fever and Hostel II sucked. But I truly enjoy the first Hostel. I thought it was great seeing a horror film that waited to get to the violence. We got time to get to know the characters alot more before they started getting tortured. However I'm interested in seeing how Eli is as a producer.

I say this has a pretty good chance of being very scary and f'ed up!
