The second trailer for Killer Elite shows Statham and Owen still rocking like a hurricane

Aug. 3, 2011by: Niki Stephens

This trailer for KILLER ELITE is really manly. Obviously not as manly as THE EXPENDABLES which was male macheesmo at it's finest. But this is really classy because these men enjoy mustaches and brandy by fireside.

With this being the second trailer, you do get more De Niro and more "Rock You Like a Hurricane". That's what you wanted, right? That's what I wanted. Check it out below and later bask in the leveling up you just did in the masculinity department.

Synopsis: When his mentor (Robert De Niro) is taken captive, a retired member of Britain's Elite Special Air Service (Jason Statham) is forced into action. His mission: kill three assassins dispatched by their cunning leader (Clive Owen).

Looks like Deniro hasn't forgotten a thing about how to handle a machine gun since Heat. I love this trailer!

Still not convinced

Like I said last time, it looks like a pretty generic Jason Statham vehicle (despite his fanbase, outside of Guy Ritchie, he has yet to star in a truly great action film that has a remote chance of being a future classic). And De Niro is slumming as he has been for the past, what is it now, almost two decades since "Heat"? Really sad.

Not trying to be a hater or anything. Just kinda being honest.

I don't really know about this yet. When I first heard about this, I was hoping for a techno-thriller about professional wet-work (maybe channeling RONIN a bit) and not an amped-up balls-out actioner. Having Statham cast should have been the first clue, but he's played down his action persona to great effect (Particularly in THE BANK JOB) and I was still hoping. Owen is an actor, and as much as I enjoyed him in SHOOT 'EM UP, he's not an action star. I'll wait for some reviews on this.

I am so pumped for this...

What more could you ask for in a good 'ol shoot 'em up action flick. I wonder if JS is still doing all his own stunts, his last couple didn't really have a ton. Although the bridge jump from Mechanic was sweet!

Lying studio morons

They "based" the screenplay on the true events of the novel "The Feather Men". They just changed all the good guys to American vs Brits, made the bad guy assassin British (he was an American former Marine and MoH recipient) and added more BS action scenes to make it look like Transporter 29.

actually that's not lying, in case you didn't go to school -- what you just stated actually clearly speaks to the 'based on a true story' thing... where exactly did they lie?

Where did they lie? Well if the movie resembles nothing from the actual events, then it stands to reason that "based on a true story" is flat out lying.
