The sequel play to Harry Potter will be published this summer

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the upcoming stage play that takes place right after the moment Harry Potter and Co. send their kids on the train to Hogwarts. While not everyone will be in attendance to see how the story plays out, a Special Rehearsal Edition of the script book of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Parts I & II will publish simultaneously on print and digital mediums after the play’s world premiere this summer. This version will represent play script at the time of the play’s preview performances. But wait! There’s more!

According to Pottermore.com, theater previews allow the creative team the chance to rehearse and explore scenes further before opening night hits. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child opens for previews several weeks before its official first performance on July 30th. What does this mean? That the Special Rehearsal Edition of the script book will be replaced by a Definitive Collector’s Edition sometime down the road. For those of you have wanted a sequel novel to “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows”, this may be as close as you’re going to get.

The Wizarding World has some real potential for stories outside of the Potter family, although truth be told, I wouldn’t be opposed to some sort of FORCE AWAKENS reboot down the road. Given how well this stage play does, as well as the upcoming FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, I have a feeling we’re going to see a lot more of the Wizarding World in the upcoming years.

The next film in the Potter-verse, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, opens in theaters on November 18, 2016.
