The Shape of Water swims to the surface of The Critics Choice Awards

The Broadcast Film Critics Association has selected their picks for the best of the year in film and television, and Guillermo del Toro’s emotionally-driven fairy tail THE SHAPE OF WATER has surfaced as a clear favorite among the group. Del Toro's newest film has received an overwhelmingly amount of positive buzz since it was screened for critics during TIFF. In fact, Arrow in the Head's own Eric Walkuski gave the film a rave review, while JoBlo's Chris Bumbray followed suit by assigning the movie a perfect score. Fun Fact: Chris is also a voting member of the BFCA.

Now, THE SHAPE OF WATER leads the pack with a total of 14 nominations, including the awards for Best Picture, Director, Actress, and Supporting nods for Richard Jenkins and Octavia Spencer. Additionally, because The Critics Choice Awards features genre specific categories, films such as BABY DRIVER and WONDER WOMAN have been added to the list of film's to be considered.

Here's the full list of nominations for the 23rd Annual Critics' Choice Awards:
