The synopsis for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 just sounds like a day in the life for Peter Parker

Feb. 6, 2013by: Niki Stephens

Yesterday, we learned that production had begun on THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2. Now comes the synopsis...

What did we find? Well, Shailene Woodley, who was cast as Mary Jane Watson, is not listed in the synopsis. With Gwen still being the main love interest (since Peter is breaking a lot of promises these days) and Harry (Dane DeHaan) coming into the picture as the long lost friend, it's possible that Mary Jane may only be a minor part of the film. Oh, if only she were introduced at the end, the door opens and BAM! "Face it, Tiger... you just hit the jackpot!" Okay, that sounds kind of corny, but whatever.

It should also be noted that Colm Feore who played King Laufey in THOR and can be seen next in JACK RYAN has been added to the cast. Hrmmmm... Remember yesterday when I was talking about how I thought that maybe Norman Osborn would finally appear? Rumor has it that Feore is the man that is filling the role. If I was right, everyone here owes me $20 bucks. Just kidding.

Check out the plot for the sequel below:

Columbia Pictures announced today that filming has begun on The Amazing Spider-Man 2 in New York. The film is the first in the history of the franchise that will be filmed entirely in New York City and New York State.

The sequel to last year’s critical and box office hit The Amazing Spider-Man, the film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Shailene Woodley, Dane DeHaan, Colm Feore, Paul Giamatti, and Sally Field.

In The Amazing Spider-Man 2, for Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield), life is busy – between taking out the bad guys as Spider-Man and spending time with the person he loves, Gwen (Emma Stone), high school graduation can’t come quickly enough. Peter hasn’t forgotten about the promise he made to Gwen’s father to protect her by staying away – but that’s a promise he just can’t keep. Things will change for Peter when a new villain, Electro (Jamie Foxx), emerges, an old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, and Peter uncovers new clues about his past.

The film is directed by Marc Webb from a screenplay by Alex Kurtzman & Roberto Orci & Jeff Pinkner, with a previous draft by James Vanderbilt, and based on the Marvel Comic Book by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Avi Arad and Matt Tolmach are the producers. The film’s key behind-the-scenes team includes director of photography Dan Mindel, production designer Mark Friedberg, editors Pietro Scalia and Elliot Graham, and costume designer Deborah L. Scott.

The latest chapter in the Spider-Man story is set for release in 3D on May 2, 2014.

Can't say anything more then whats been said below. Nothing fresh, nothing new, but the studio will rake in the cash.

i agree with Riz-man. His ignorance to the existence of Norman in the first movie doesn't match up with the fact that he's old friends with the guys son.

Last years Amazing Spider_man was a tolerable movie but brought nothing fresh. The sequel also gives off the same vibe. You are doing the exact same things from the original trilogy & bringing back Harry & Mary Jane ,so once again there is nothing fresh here. Call me crazy but when you do a reboot isn't it suppossed to be something totally fresh & original, these films just seem a bit rudundant & pointless SO far the only reboots to get it right are Batman & X-Men, now maybe Man of Steel this

Hm

Think the studios will notice that people are bored with The Amazing Spider-Man series? Nah, if it keeps making money it won't matter how shitty these films are. ASM was boring as hell and just rewound what we saw in Spider-Man just with a different spin. I really hate how they rebooted this and are recasting the same characters we already seen. Yes, Spider-Man 3 wasn't that good, but fuck man.

Colm Feore as Norman is perfect if that's the case.

Sure, I'm over analysing here but...how would Harry being an old friend work? It could makes sense...as Peter's Dad worked for Norman and appeared to hold a senior position in the corporation...which might have led to the father visiting Norman at his house...taking Peter along...who than hooked up with rich boy Harry...who had no other friends. However, Peter clearly never knew what his dad did...the secretive nature of his dad's work...would make it unlikely that he'd take Peter along with him for house visits. Moreover, if Peter already had such a connection to the Osborns and was old enough to remember it...was it necessary for him to be so sneaky when trying to infiltrate the building in the first movie? That poor kid whose identity he stole...who knows how missing that tour will affect his future!!! ;o)

Also, the memory of watching the first film is becoming patchier by the day can someone remind me did I understand it right did Peter buy his webbing from Oscorp??? Do they sell these things????

If Im coming across as someone who didnt really like the first moviesorryIm a big Spider-man fan and the more I think about that movie the more it bugs me pun intended.

I don't think I really liked the Raimi movies but he certainly got Peter spot on in the first two movies...and even explained well why a rich boy like Harry would be at normal school!

Vulture?

Colm Feore looks a little howI'd expect the Vulture to look.... - Bare in mind the whole reboot has gone WAY away from the original trilogy, Maybe Marc doesn't want to bring the Osborne's in just yet?

Pfffftttttt. They either don't know their pushing out turds or just don't care. The previous one was awful - sleep inducing. This will suck too, we all know it. Sony sucks.

You know, Shailene Woodley looks like she could be Andrew Garfield's sister. They have the same kind of face, just slightly different for gender variance. If you look at pictures of them side-by-side, they look like siblings.

Amazing my asss

The first film was nothing to write home about. Average at best, villain was underwhelming and the cgi failed to impress. Hard to get excited for the next one.

I'll give it a chance, but...

I just can't get that excited until I see something for it. The first Amazing Spider-man was so frustrating. In so many ways I really liked it, but in in so many equal ways I was really annoyed. If they would have just skipped the origin and thrown us into the middle of Peter Parker's story it would have been SO much better. And I'm not excited in the least to see another Harry and Norman Osbourne or Mary Jane for that matter. But we'll see I guess.

Since the Amazing Spider-man wasn't as good as Spider-man, I doubt Amazing Spider-men 2 will be as good as Spider-man 2, one of the best superhero films ever made. I can't imagine a fight w/ Electro or Rhino being as cool as that fight w/ Doc Ock on the train.

There is nothing...NOTHING this film can do to even come close the perfection and greatness that is Spider Man 2. I still debate whether or not that Spider Man 2 is the best comic book film of all time. Great film.

I want to be really excited for this, but just can't. I had high hopes for the first one, but I was disappointed. The trailer is going to have to be amazing (pun intended) and the movie itself had to be entirely different from the first because I thought the first brought nothing new and original that we haven't seen before.

Sounds boring to me because we've seen this already. And I am still not behind Jamie Foxx as Electro. I thought they were trying to go for something original and not just the same ol', same ol'. We'll see, but I didn't think the first film was anything special, so if this is more of the same, no ty.

I didn't know Kurtzman & Orci were working on this. One could only hope the sequel will be better than the last.

So Giamatti as the Rhino is pretty much confirmed? That's interesting...and "an old friend" denotes Peter knew Harry before the events of The Amazing Spider-Man. We'll see how this turns out.
