The teaser poster for the Evil Dead remake writes one hell of a check to audiences

Nov. 20, 2012by: Paul Shirey

Man, this is one hell of a promise to make on an already controversial adaptation.  It's not the first time a movie has made such boasts about its potential impact, so it's not a big shock.  However, from a marketing side, it could work on the studio's favor.  It's not so much that the film delivers on the promise, but that it draws people in to find out if it actually does.  The end result is irrelevant as long as the numbers work in their favor.

Do you think it will?:

Personally, I love Sam Raimi's original THE EVIL DEAD flicks.  They're classics, they're awesome, and I'll always regard them as such.  However, I'm willing to give this remake a go, because it seems like they're going to great lengths to deliver something cool and are cautious with fan expectation and very aware of the backlash.  I'll give 'em a day in court with that level of cognizance.

EVIL DEAD is slated to ruin every camping trip in your future on April 12, 2013.

Let's watch that trailer again, shall we?

Well

I am sure those that actually bought a ticket to Paranormal Activity 4 will buy in to the "Most Terrifying Thing" ever line. It's movie-goers like them that spend money on hype.

Well so far I'm not seeing it but I tip my hat to the studio for having the balls to make the claim. They better hope it delivers. Cause remember studios, "terrifying" doesn't mean "more blood and guts".

I'm pretty sure the Lindsay Lohan as Elizabeth Taylor movie claimed this title.

These people obviously haven't seen films like Irrversible and Come And See.

Balls-out gore has never been "terrifying".

Or "Inside" for that matter. or "Frontieres" probably could go on. I'll still check it out though. Why not...

I think they're trying to use a similar tagline to the original Evil Dead - the most terrifying experience in grueling terror (or something like it).

I would believe them...

if it is anything close to the original movie. I still remember from my school days that evil dead is the most terrifying movie ever. We even had urban legends of movie theaters putting out contests which dare people to watch this movie alone.

I always thought the original tag line was mocking the try hard horror of its day.

And much like the film itself the people behind this remake have completely misinterpreted the reasoning and appeal.

Hmmm IDK....guess I will wait and see. BUT, the trailer looks awesome and it's obvious they are NOT going to hold back for any PG rating or crap like that. They are putting it out there and saying come see this for blood and gore and a good story.

Na

I don't think this will be the scariest film ever made. IDK maybe for someone who has never ever seen a horror movie before or isn't use to horror movies or if your a girly girl. LOL but for us horror and gore hounds I doubt it will. But who knows I didn't think the fourth kind would be scary and I can't even watch that movie no more LMFAO>
