The teaser trailer for The Lego Movie is a childhood dream come true

06.18.2013

This makes my heart truly happy.

Hearing the talk of THE LEGO MOVIE sort of seemed like a dream, I suppose. Legos are one of those things that we love into adulthood and getting to see them on the big screen in action in this way is awesome.

The first trailer for the film centers on a special Lego minifig (voiced by Chris Pratt) who is the key to saving the Lego universe. As you will be able to see, there are appearances from several of your favorite Lego sets. I'm using Lego a lot aren't I? Everyone is there, even new Legos. I think this will be great for kids and adults alike.

Synopsis: An ordinary LEGO minifigure, mistakenly thought to be the extraordinary MasterBuilder, is recruited to join a quest to stop an evil LEGO tyrant from gluing the universe together.

THE LEGO MOVIE starring the voices of Morgan Freeman, Elizabeth Banks, Nick Offerman, Alison Brie, Will Ferrell Will Arnett and Chris Pratt releases on February 7, 2014.

So glad they're not going with fully rendered animation here. Almost looks stop motion. Pretty cool.

Strangely this looks good!

Best part is that LEGO already has the rights to use these likenesses as "LEGO" characters, so making a movie that contains Batman, and all the other characters is not only fun and interesting, it was probably a legal walk in the park for them! I imagine we'll see all the latest sets...Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, etc

Look good. For a Lego film they certainly got hell of a talented voice cast. Especially Nick Offerman, Brie, and Freeman.

So I'm guessing since this is WB, this movie can only use characters that the studio currently owns for movie purposes (like Batman and Superman), but not all legos (like Star Wars or Avengers)? That would have made this movie so much more awesome.

Extremely generic, which is the polar opposite of Lego.

To play with, yes, but pretty much every Lego film ends up being somewhat generic.

Looks Familiar

Anyone else get reminded of Robot Chicken? But it does look like it has potential.

Interesting note: this movie was co-directed by Chris McKay, who worked as a director, editor and producer on Robot Chicken. Seems his style fits this movie.

AHHHHH! Greatest thing ever. I'm so happy they managed to feature all the licensed characters in there, it's like the group therapy scene in Wreck-It Ralph. Batman's line about very very dark grey was funny and I love how the movie seems to blend a stop-motion look with a CGI one very effectively.

Ticket Sold

My favorite part was when Batman showed up. Why doesn't he just always show up in movies? Grizzly Man would have had a much better ending if Batman had just shown up to fight the bear. Same with Notting Hill except replace the bear with Hugh Grant.

I actually kinda dig the simulated stop-animation.

I also like how the minifigs can't really articulate much more than an actual toy can.
But real talk.
Where are the Bionicle guys? And Johnny Thunder?
