The Town’s Aaron Stockard to do script work on Ben Affleck’s Whitey Bulger flick

Warner Brothers and Ben Affleck have brought Aaron Stockard on board to do some script work on their Whitey Bulger film.

Stockard previously worked with Affleck on THE TOWN and GONE BABY GONE. He even served as a production assistant on GOOD WILL HUNTING. BOARDWALK EMPIRE creator and writer Terence Winter created the original script for the film. It seems that Affleck and crew are looking to get a move on this since Barry Levinson‘s competing Bulger pic, BLACK MASS with Joel Edgerton as FBI John Connelly is trying to get the edge.

Affleck’s long time pal, Matt Damon signed on to play Bulger back in 2011 which is kind of funny since he played the guy on the inside to Jack Nicholson‘s version of Bulger in THE DEPARTED. There have been quite a few characters based off Bulger in recent flicks and television. James Woods played the part in Showtime’s RAY DONOVAN.

A little background on Bulger: “the notorious South Boston crime boss who fled in 1994 and remained a fugitive for 16 years — 12 of them on the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted List. He was arrested in June in Santa Monica and was found guilty of 31 counts in August, including involvement in 11 murders. The story will cover Bulger’s youth to his incarceration on Alcatraz, through his rise to become a mob boss while secretly serving as an FBI informant for decades.”

Affleck and brother, Casey are said to co-star in the film alongside Damon.
