The trailer for Frankenstein’s Army looks like Wolfenstein: The Movie!

Last Updated on August 2, 2021

If you were a kid in the early 90s, the name Wolfenstein means something to you. One of the first video games I truly loved was WOLFENSTEIN 3D and here we are twenty years since it was released without a movie version. We got a DOOM movie, where the hell is my WOLFENSTEIN movie?

While this may not be the big budget studio version I envisioned coming to theaters, there is a US/Netherlands co-production from Dark Sky Films called FRANKENSTEIN’S ARMY that may tide me over until a true WOLFENSTEIN movie can be made. Starring Karel Roden, this is definitely a low budget affair, but a fun one nonetheless. Maybe my crap meter has busted after watching SHARKNADO last night, but I am interested in checking out FRANKENSTEIN’S ARMY.

Toward the end of World War II, Russian soldiers pushing into eastern Germany stumble across a secret Nazi lab, one that has unearthed and begun experimenting with the journal of one Dr. Victor Frankenstein. The scientists have used the legendary Frankenstein’s work to assemble an army of super-soldiers stitched together from the body parts of their fallen comrades — a desperate Hitler’s last ghastly ploy to escape defeat.

There are several shots in the trailer that look like a first person shooter, but I could be wrong. I definitely like the batshit crazy creature designs and hopefully the movie makes even a modicum of sense. Here’s hoping we get to see this soon. FRANKENSTEIN’S ARMY has been making the festival circuit over the last couple of months with a limited release in theaters starting July 26th.
